For 40 years, she was a parishioner of Saint Paul’s Church in Ramsey, where she taught religious education, was a Eucharistic minister and senior altar server, and volunteered at the parish office. She is survived by her children Christopher Ebneth of Randolph, Timothy Ebneth of Kinderhook, New York, and Roberta Travis of Long Valley, five grandchildren, and her brother John Boles. Herman “Hy” Halpern of Ho-Ho-Kus died Aug. 28. He was 88. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. His career was in the restaurant business. He is survived by his wife Dove Halpern, his son Michael Halpern, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Teri Bekeley. After attending Traphagen School of Design in New York, New York, she worked at Montgomery Ward in Manhattan. She is survived by daughters Nina Jerome Sutcliffe of Bangor, Maine and Kathleen Jerome of River Edge, four grandchildren, and her sisters Josephine Anderson of Ramsey and Mary Randall of Mountville, Pennsylvania.
