Waldwick
Waldwick High School senior Ali Giordano is flying high these days. The 17-year-old, whose father is Councilman Tom Giordano, was named The Record newspaper’s Female Athlete of the Week last Tuesday. A volleyball player, she helped the Warriors to victory in three consecutive wins over Lodi, Hawthorne Christian and Emerson, garnering 61 kills, 46 digs and 25 aces. In addition, the Waldwick High School faculty members selected Ali as the September Student of the Month for her contributions in the field of athletics. And during last week’s public meeting of the Waldwick Mayor and Council, Mayor Russell “Buddy” Litchult congratulated Ali for her accomplishments.

A recipient of The Distinguished Service Award by The Italian Consulate’s office in 1996, Mistretta also was a contributor of historic photos of Waldwick’s Italian heritage published in the book. The Consul General was pleased to know that the IASCW aims to instill Italian culture and heritage for future generations. Photo by Perry Quaranta.
