Area October 12, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 11 Travel back in time with Elizabeth Gallina, an Upper Saddle River Girl Scout. For her Gold Award project, Gallina will hold a Children’s Colonial Day on Sunday, Oct. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The John Fell House, 475 Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. By reaching out to the community, Gallina hopes to bring awareness to this historic home, its former residents, and the time period surrounding Revolutionary War hero John Fell. Admission is free of charge and open to children of all ages. The event will feature a variety of interactive activities, including Scout to present Children’s Colonial Day at Fell House crafts, indoor parlor games, and outdoor relay races. Compete with or cheer on the children during sack races and three-legged races. There will be patriotic tattoos, face painting, and pumpkin decorating. A performance, sing along, and author reading of “The Ghosts of Allendale” by Allendale resident Jim Wright will be presented. Apple cider and doughnuts will be served in the home’s kitchen. For information about the event, contact Elizabeth at (201) 818-5937. For additional information about The Fell House, visit www.fellhouse.org.
