Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • November 23, 2011 Upper Saddle River Share the magic of the holiday season at the Hopper-Goetschius House Museum on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. Children are invited to visit Santa in his sleigh in the Dutch barn from 1 to 4. To visit with him, each child is asked to bring a canned good or non-perishable food item to be shared with the needy. Several prizes will be offered through a special contest. Event organizers will announce the winners at 4 p.m. Prizes will include a gingerbread house made by Austrian baker Madeline Cudina, an 18-inch Fitz & Floyd figurine of Saint Nicholas on his horse, two fabulous gift baskets, and three large stuffed animals. Hopper-Goetschius House hosts holiday-themed event Chestnuts will be roasting on the open fire in the out-kitchen while mulled cider brews in the house. The house will be decorated for the season with Lizzie’s ornaments on her tree. On exhibit are many new items donated by descendants of the Hopper and the Goetschius families. Talented crafters will be demonstrating throughout the house. In the schoolhouse, which will be decorated for the holidays of a century ago, children may listen to a reading of Clement Clarke Moore’s 1848 “’Twas the Night before Christmas,” at 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. The Hopper-Goetschius House Museum is located on the corner of East Saddle River Road and Lake Street in Upper Saddle River.
