Norman will create two centerpieces: one with a nature theme, the other in silver and white. The centerpieces will be given to members of the audience after the program. Auxiliary sets Holiday Luncheon & Boutique The Saddle River Valley Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host its Annual Holiday Luncheon and Boutique on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Ridgewood Country Club, 96 West Midland Avenue in Paramus. The boutique will feature gift items from Neiman Marcus, custom made Santas, handbags, jewelry, home gifts, and much more. Gold jewelry will also be bought. Preschool program announces openings The Upper Saddle River School District has six general educational openings available in its Integrated Preschool Program. The Integrated Preschool Program is a nursery school program that incorporates special education children with general education preschoolers. The program is held at Reynolds School. Special education youngsters are placed in the program through an evaluation process administered by the Special Services Department. Children attend five half-days a week from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The first 15 applicants will be screened in early December. Other applicants will be placed on a waiting list. The six openings will be offered by Dec. 21. The current tuition is $3,750; the 2012-13 tuition will be determined by June. To be eligible, a general education student must be four years old on or before Oct. 1, 2012. A birth certificate, copy of immunizations, and four proofs of residency will be required. The closing date for all applications is Nov. 30, 2011. ‘Revolutionary Tea’ offered History on the Hoof will present “Revolutionary Tea: An Entertaining Presentation of a Historical Theme” on Nov. 29. Learn why tea was so important in the lives of 18th century people that fashion-conscious families posed for portraits with their tea sets. Discover whether Great Britain lost its American Colonies over “the cup that cheers.” Find out in this unusual costumed presentation of tea lore, history, songs, poetry, living history display and demonstration, which will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Upper Saddle River Library, 245 Lake Street in Upper Saddle River. Register for recreation basketball Ho-Ho-Kus/Saddle River Recreational Basketball is holding online registration for boys and girls in grades one through eight. Registration for those in grades three through eight will be open through Nov. 27. Please note that a $25 late fee will be added after Nov. 20. Registration for those in grades one and two will be accepted through Dec. 31, after which time a $25 late fee will be imposed. The fee for children in grades three through eight is $100. The cost is $80 for children in grades one and two. There is a maximum fee of $210 per family. Gina Buffa is a member of the foundation’s board and is active in fundraising, marketing, and lobbying for the cause. She is also involved in G4G’s daily operations. She is credited with expanding Richard’s Run from a community gathering of several hundred runners to one of G4G’s largest fundraisers. The event now draws thousands of runners each year. The push for a cure for pediatric cancer has come to the attention of the young students at the Ho-Ho-Kus School because a member of the student body, Blake Buffa, daughter of Gina and John, was recently diagnosed with a rare cancer. Blake has since undergone successful treatments. Blake was also in attendance at last week’s school board meeting, where she modeled an outfit that could become a school uniform option. The school uniform proposal is under consideration.
