(continued from previous page) borough’s planning board. “This is not intended to be a cure-all for the downtown,” Randall continued, calling the ordinance “a piece of the puzzle.” Councilman John Mongelli added that the borough is forming a committee to study local parking inconsistencies. That committee will include Councilman Kevin Crossley, Ho-Ho-Kus Police Chief John Wanamaker, and Borough Administrator Don Cirulli. Mongelli said the committee will review parking regulations, meet with the Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce, and attempt to make the regulations consistent for everyone. Randall pointed out the distinction between changing the amount of time motorists may park in a certain area, something he said could be done easily, and effecting a change in the local zoning. The council subsequently approved the introduction of the ordinance. The ordinance proposes two amendments to Chapter 85 of the borough’s zoning code. One change would delete restaurants as permitted uses in the GB general business district. The ordinance would also amend the requirements pertaining to permitted conditional uses. In the case of restaurants, the following conditional uses would apply: “A restaurant shall not be located on a lot that is contiguous or adjacent to a single family residential zone. “A restaurant shall be located on a minimum lot area of not less than 10,000 square feet and shall be computed within 110 feet of the front street lot line. “A restaurant shall be located on a lot that contains the minimum amount of off-street parking space required by borough requirements.” The public hearing on this ordinance will be part of the May 24 council meeting. Sessions are held in borough hall and begin at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
