Dr. Steve Jones of Total Health Chiropractic recently joined forces with patients and family members to clean up Waldwick’s Whites Pond. Dr. Jones, an avid fisherman and a product of the borough, was alarmed at the amount of debris in the lake, on the banks, and the surrounding property. He asked his practice members from Waldwick and surrounding towns for help. The cleanup was accomplished by 10 peopl, despite the stormy weather. Two team members in kayaks worked the far banks. They filled their kayaks with broken chairs, buckets, and all sorts of debris. The majority of the cleanup crew worked the side of the lake adjacent to the running/walking path. Dr. Jones walked the edge of the lake in chest waders, removing trash that was entwined in the shrubs that border the lake. The cleanup encompassed the entire lake, the falls, and the banks leading to the bridge. All told, 10 full bags of strictly plastic bags, bottles, and glass were removed.

(continued from page 5) to install a shallow manifold system connecting into the existing storm drain system to run along the right of way of flood-prone areas. Homeowners would connect into the new pipes to get rid of water from gutters, basements and yards, instead of sending this water down the drain. This work would be done in stages, and residents granted waivers would be forced to connect once the system is available in their neighborhood.
