Page 14 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • May 4, 2011 Upper Saddle River Dominyka Obelenyte, a 15-year-old Northern Highland Regional High School sophomore, recently participated at the International New York Open Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championship, where she won the gold medal in the purple belt adult female middle weight category and silver in the purple belt absolute weight category. Last year, the Upper Saddle River resident became Bra- Obelenyte earns medals in Brazilian jiu jitsu zilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion in the adult female blue belt lightweight category. The championships, known as the Mundials, took place in Long Beach, California. Over 2,000 athletes competed, and there were 18 women in Obelenyte’s weight category. For her final fight, Obelenyte defeated American Erikka Flom.
