Team Campgaw, the competitive arm of Campgaw Mountain in Mahwah has announced its alpine ski racing champions for the 2010-2011 season: Callie Sundin of Morristown, Arden Lieb of Allendale, and Cooper Mandel of Ramsey. The three qualified for the 10 and under championship race in Gunstock, New Hampshire. They will compete against the top alpine ski racers in their age groups from across the East Coast. Sundin finished the season as the first place winner in the State of New Jersey for girls in the J5 category. Team Campgaw Race Director John Nielsen said that, along with her coach, Alison Fischer, no one works harder at her craft than Sundin. “She finished second in the state last year, but Callie wouldn’t settle for that,” said Nielsen. Lieb finished second in the state in the J5 girls’ level. This was a great accomplishment as she was not even in the mix until the last race of the season. “She needed a first place finish in order to even qualify. So what does she do? She gets first place,” said Nielsen. Mandel is the youngest Campgaw champion and still has another year in the J5 class of racers. He finished fifth among all 10 and under racers. The next closest racer at his age level came in twelfth place. Coach Fischer said the future looks bright for Cooper. “He has a refreshing attitude on the hill,” the coach said. “He’s a great teammate and he hates to lose.” Ramsey residents Oscar Priesler and Kim Creegan also raced and medaled, but did not compete in Gunstock. 4 th ANNUAL Presenting Sponsor 5 K RUN AND 1 MILE WALK Proceeds to benefit Kisses 4 Kelly and the community of Waldwick Pre-race pick up bib, shirt & goody bags at Waldwick Ambulance Corps Sat. 4/30 – 4-7 PM B tag Chip Timing Race results will be available on www. Ideas that have already been discussed include a zoning change that would freeze the number of restaurants at the current level. Randall said there are a number of ways to limit new restaurants, including concepts that would require prospective restaurateurs to seek zoning board approvals to locate in the borough. He noted that the Village of Ridgewood currently has a limit on the number of banks that can exist in a particular area. Any new banks that plan to locate in that area are required to apply for a use variance. Randall pointed out that borough officials recently attended the Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce’s wellattended first business card exchange. During that session, Councilman Kevin Crossley said the borough council welcomes the opportunity to work closely with the Chamber on resolutions to various local issues of concern. J.
