Waldwick March 23, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 9 Massage Envy Spa will be the presenting sponsor of this year’s Waldwick 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk, scheduled for Sunday, May 1. This is the fourth year the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the popular event, which last year drew 350 participants. This year, event Director Stan Kowalski has a personal goal of 500 participants. The certified course has been sanctioned as a USATF Grand Prix event, which assures even greater participation from serious runners, according to Kowalski. “We are so excited for the fourth annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk this year, and are thrilled that Massage Envy Spa is our Presenting Sponsor and the Village Grill is our Platinum Sponsor,” said chamber President Christine Figliuolo. “Many businesses have come out to support the run and our “Kisses 4 Kelly” fundraiser. We have raised close to $8,500 in sponsorships so far and that’s before race registrations start flowing in,” she added, noting that the event gives additional exposure to local business owners through the sponsorships and gift bag give aways. Singling out Kowalski, Figliuolo said: “Once again, Stan “5K Guy” Kowalski is doing an outstanding job. He Chamber members joining in as 5K Run sponsors is on top of every conceivable detail to make sure the run is top notch,” she said. Kowalski has been in charge of the Waldwick event since its inception three years ago. He is himself a runner of more than 120 races, from Boston to Washington, DC, including the New York City Marathon and the 26-mile Jersey Shore Relay. To date, more than 30 Waldwick Chamber members have signed on as sponsors, well ahead of last year’s initial supporters, and many more are expected before the deadline. The sponsor listing is posted on the chamber website and is constantly updated. Kowalski asks that residents patronize these sponsors that make the Run possible.
