Bereavement support group forming Those who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one are invited to join the support group at Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. Trained, compassionate facilitators will lead eight sessions presented over the course of eight weeks beginning the first week of April. Some of the topics to be presented include loneliness, anger, guilt, family dynamics, and inner healing. There is no fee, but registration is required. Learn about Abigail Adams “Abigail Adams: Dearest Friend” will be presented at the Upper Saddle River Library, 245 Lake Street, on Monday, April 4 at 1 p.m. This program will focus on first lady Abigail Adams, a strong and influential woman deeply engaged in the politics of her time. While her husband was away, she took over the management of her family and the farm, leaving a legacy of letters unlike any others. This program is offered by the Horizon Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. Refreshments will be served. Novak offers clutter-clearing tips Best-selling author and expert organizer Jamie Novak will reveal her trademark three-step system for organization on Tuesday, April 5. The program will be held at the Upper Saddle River Library, 245 Lake Street in Upper Saddle River, at 7:30 p.m. Often seen on HGTV and QVC, Novak currently serves as the home blogger for “Martha Stewart’s Whole Living.” From paper piles to closets, recipes to receipts, and clothes to the car, Novak covers it all in a humorous way. Tickets available for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ The Emil A. Cavallini Middle School in Upper Saddle River will present “Beauty and the Beast” on Tuesday, March 29 at 3 p.m. Tickets for this popular musical are $3. Senior citizens will be admitted free. Tickets may be picked up in front of the auditorium before the performance. Parents invited to anti-bullying program Cavallini Middle School will present “Ryan’s Story for Parents Only” on April 26 at 7:15 p.m. at the Glen Rock Middle School, 600 Harristown Road in Glen Rock. The program, delivered by John Harrigan, is the story of his experience as a father whose 13-year-old son took his own life after enduring incessant bullying by his peers, both in school and online. The story is riveting and powerful, and a reminder that there is a genuine person on the other end of the computer. The program is sponsored in part by the Upper Saddle River Youth Guidance Council and supported by the Upper Saddle River Police Department. This session is appropriate for adults only. No one under the age of 21 will be admitted. The students will be seeing an age-appropriate program at Cavallini Middle School on April 27. It is strongly suggested that parents, whether or not they attend the parent session, ask their children about
the program and discuss it with them. For more information, call (201) 3272583. Republican Club reorganizes The Upper Saddle River Republican Club will meet March 22 to reorganize and to hold an election of new officers. The meeting will be held in the adult solarium of the Upper Saddle River Library at 245 Lake Street at 7:30 p.m. The club welcomes ideas on how they can better support Republican candidates as they head into 2012.
Refreshments will be served at 7:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:45 p.m. Members and non-members invited. Register for spring tennis clinics Registration for two five-week spring tennis clinics is underway at Upper Saddle River Borough Hall, 376 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinics, held at the Wickersham Tennis Courts, will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. The first session will be the week of March 28. No lessons will be held the week of school break or the week of May 9. During the second session, an adult group will take place at 7 p.m. The cost for the each five-week session is $90.
