Allendale March 16, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 9 No contest in regional race; K-8 election features challenge The April 27 board of education will be contested in Allendale’s K-8 district, where two newcomers have filed for the one, three-year seat. Todd Fliegel and Natalie Capano will compete for the seat, which was left open when incumbent Patty Malloy-Blomberg opted not to seek a new term. The board has already forwarded a $16,347,722 budget to the state for review and approval or amendment. The budget has a $15,199,223 general fund item, with a $175,789 special revenue fund and a $972,710 debt service item. The Northern Highlands Regional High School Board of Education will be uncontested this year. Incumbent trustee Barbara Garand will seek the single three-year term available for an Upper Saddle River representative. Newcomers Anne Goddard and Lisa Jill Webb will seek election to the two threeyear Allendale seats on the board. J. Led by volunteer Carol Browne (standing), whose mother is an Atrium resident, the annual program encourages Atrium residents to plant their bulbs and nurture them into full bloom in the community’s greenhouse. The Atrium’s Garden Club utilizes the greenhouse year-round to grow a wide variety of herbs and flowers and is one of several groups established by, and for, residents at The Atrium. The senior residential living community offers diverse social, cultural, and educational programming specially designed to encourage seniors to pursue their hobbies or new interests.
