The election has been scheduled for April 27. Incumbent Edward Sandve filed for reelection. Eugene Dell’Aglio, John DeWitt, Claire McLafferty, Barbara Moran, Nick Puccio, and Martha Walsh have also filed. During the election, the borough’s registered voters will also have the opportunity to cast their ballots on the tax levy associated with the tentative school budget. School board election to be contested this year The $27,376,475 budget includes a general fund of $26,151,951, a total special revenue fund of $534,084, and a total debt service fund of $690,440. The total tax levy will be $25,307,922, with $24,617,482 going to support the general fund and $690,440 going to support the district’s debt service. This year, the board established a $70,000 maximum for district travel for the 2011-12 school year. The following maximum expenditures were also approved: $5,000 for public relations, $95,000 for legal services, $40,000 for audit services, and $95,000 for architectural/engi- neering services. The board has also accepted $384,809 in state special education categorical aid, less a $21,880 assessment for debt service on SDA funding for a net total aid of $362,929, and state funding for extraordinary special education aid estimated at $251,938. On Feb. 3, a police learned that the front door of a Bonhert Place residence had been forced open. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the residence. The matter is being investigated. On Feb. 7, Officer Chris Goodell arrested a 48-yearold Wyckoff resident and charged him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest came as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Franklin Turnpike. On Feb. 14 and 16, residents of Highwood Avenue and Summit Avenue reported a suspicious person in their rear yards. Both incidents occurred after 9 p.m. Officers searched the area, but did not find any suspects. A 21-year-old Waldwick resident was arrested Feb. 14 and charged with invasion of privacy. A criminal complaint was signed against him for posting intimate photos of his former girlfriend on the Internet. The suspect was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. On Feb. 19, Sergeant Robert Woessner arrested a 19year-old Waldwick resident for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest came as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Franklin Turnpike. Detective Sergeant Doug Moore arrested a 47-yearold Midland Park resident on Feb. 21 and charged him with two counts of theft. The arrest came after an investigation into multiple thefts of cartons of cigarettes from Borough Police Department Report Walgreen’s Pharmacy during the overnight hours. The defendant was also charged in several area municipalities for similar incidents. On Feb. 23, Officer Dave Passaretti arrested a 31-yearold male after he threatened to harm another person. It was determined that the defendant had been previously deported from the United States and illegally re-entered the country. The individual was transported to the Bergen County Jail where he was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending deportation. At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 27, a Highwood Avenue resident reported that a male tried to enter his residence by opening the front door. When confronted, the individual claimed to be inquiring about a vehicle for sale. When he was told that there were no vehicles for sale at that residence, he left the scene in a gold or beige colored Chevrolet Suburban. On Feb. 28, Rite Aid Pharmacy reported that a person had just fled from the store after filling a bag with approximately $350 worth of merchandise. Officers from Waldwick, Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, and the Bergen County Police K-9 unit located the individual hiding in a former lumber yard on West Prospect Street. Officer Adam Garcia arrested the 32-year-old Paterson resident and he was transported to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
