Harold Joseph Boland Jr. of Upper Saddle River died March 6. He was 84. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He worked building National Sign Company in Hackensack while attending Fairleigh Dickinson University. Later, he began National Crane Company and several other endeavors. He is survived by his wife Marie, his children Barbara Boland Tizio, Catherine Boland Kelly, Michael Boland, Brian Boland, six grandchildren, his brother Robert V. Boland, and his cousin Calvert Crawford. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Edward J. Ducey of Milford, Pennsylvania, formerly of Allendale, died March 7. He was 73. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He had a business career in the machine tool industry. He was a member of the Holiday Observers, president of the Allendale Recreation Commission, and an usher at Guardian Angel Church. He had coached basketball, soccer and baseball. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his sons Kevin of Westwood, and Christopher of Boston, Massachusetts, one granddaughter, and his brother Thomas of Glen Rock. He was predeceased by his brother James Ducey of Glen Rock and his sister Helen Browne of Highland, Michigan. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Jeanne Eisenstein, nee Percy, of Upper Saddle River, formerly of Palisades Park, died March 4. She was 77. She was a homemaker and had worked for Hallmark Cards of Paramus before retiring. She is survived by her children Lisa LeRose of Saint Augustine, Florida, Mark Eisenstein and Beth Eisenstein, both of Upper Saddle River, three grandchildren, and her brother James Percy of Hawthorne. Loretta Matthews of Ridgewood, formerly of Waldwick, and Ashlar Village in Connecticut, died Feb. 21. She was 90. She was a graduate of Saint Catherine’s Nursing School in Brooklyn. She was a U.S. Navy nurse during WWII. She had been a nurse for the Oradell public schools. She was a parishioner at Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood. She is survived by her children Patricia, Kathleen, James,

A memorial service will be held at Mount Carmel Church, 56 Passaic Street in Ridgewood on March 19 at 9:30 a.m. John C. Murphy of Waldwick died March 9. He was 94. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a credit consultant for the garment industry in Manhattan, and founded the 49ers Credit Club in New York. He was a comptroller for John J. Demarest Lumber Company in Closter. He ran for freeholder in 1956. He is survived by his wife Marie (nee Schriner), and his son Michael A. Murphy of Waldwick. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Jack E. Ranck of Ramsey died March 7. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He modeled for various magazines in NYC, attended Manhattan School of Aviation in New York City, and graduated from New York University. He had been an aeronautical engineer at Vought-Sikorsky-Aircraft in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and for American Airlines in Chicago. He was employed with ATF as a sales representative, and employed with Royal Zenith in Long Island as a sales manager. He was an eastern regional sales manager for Solna Corp. in Kenilworth, where he received numerous awards for outstanding sales. Before retiring in 2004, he owned JR Graphics in Ramsey. He is survived by his wife Celeste G. Ranck (nee Kaczmarek). Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. He was a graduate of Notre Dame University where he was a member of the 1946 and 1947 National Champion football teams. He was selected to the 1948 College Football All Star Team. He played professional football with the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams. After his professional football career, he was employed in industrial sales, eventually founding his own business, Empire Bearing & Transmission Corp. of Fairview. He retired in 2007. He was a member of Saint Catherine’s of Sienna RC Church in Carrollton, Texas. Previously he had been a member of the Church of the Guardian Angel in Allendale. She is survived by her children Thomas Thompson of Old Tappan, Peter Thompson of Ramsey, and John Thompson of Newport, Vermont, four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and her sister Betty Bruining. He was the past president of the Wyckoff Senior Club, Inc., the Golden Age Club of Wanaque, and the Vasa Order of America, Frithiof Lodge # 63 in Dover. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Andrews) Wiley of Wanaque, his daughter Lisa Wiley of Wanaque, his sister Florence O’Sullivan of Pompton Lakes, and many nieces and nephews. Church of the Presentation is offering a support group for those who are recently divorced or separated. Trained facilitators will work with the group over eight weeks from March 28 through May 16. Hours are 7:30 to 9 p.m. Topics to be presented include loneliness, anger, guilt, family dynamics, and inner healing. The program is free, but registration is required.
