Lenten Interfaith Dialogue set From March 15 through April 5, Trinity Episcopal Church of Northern Bergen County will host a Lenten Interfaith Dialogue on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. During each session, representatives of various faith communities will present the basic tenets of their religions and field questions from the audience. A fellowship gathering will be held immediately after each one-hour dialogue. The schedule for the sessions is: March 15, Islam with presenter Mohamed El Filal; March 22, Hinduism with presenters Rajinder Gandhi, et al.; March 29, Buddhism with presenters Joan Hoeberichs, et al.; and April 5, Judaism with presenters Rabbi Joel Mosbacher, et al. The church is located at 55 George Street in Allendale Delapenha Scholarship available All high school seniors who reside in Allendale are invited to apply for the $2,000 scholarship established in honor of Donald Delapenha, a borough resident who perished at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Students are required to write a 300-500 word essay on one of the following four topics: What are your future goals and aspirations? What volunteer activity are you most passionate about and why? How has Sept. 11 forever changed the world we live in? Describe a significant event in your life since 9/11/01 and discuss how the event has influenced your life. Students must also submit a resume of academic, extracurricular, and community based activities on or by April 8 to Allendale Borough Hall, 500 West Crescent Avenue, Allendale, NJ 07401. Women’s chorus sets fundraiser The Ridgewood Choral, an all-woman chorus now celebrating 83 years of song and service, invites the public to a Games/Card Luncheon fundraiser on March 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Allendale Borough Hall, 500 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. Cards and games will be provided, but attendees may bring their own group, cards, and games. Admission is $15, which includes lunch. Fashion Show tickets now on sale The Allendale Woman’s Club 2011 Fashion Show, “Making Fashion History” will take place Wednesday, April 6 at Seasons in Washington Township. The evening will feature a lavish cocktail reception with open bar, gourmet dinner, an auction, gift basket prizes, and fashions presented by Leapin’ Lizards, a Lilly Pulitzer signature store in Ridgewood. This event is a fundraiser for the restoration and preservation of the John Fell House, a local landmark built in the 1700s by Founding Father and Revolutionary War hero John Fell. The house was narrowly saved from demolition by The Concerned Citizens of Allendale, a grassroots organization that raised funds to purchase the building and use it as an educational and cultural resource center. Community members may support this cause by becom-
ing corporate or individual sponsors, placing messages of support in the program, or by donating goods and services to the basket prize giveaway. High school hosts Craft Show fundraiser A quality Craft Show featuring over 90 exhibitors will be held at Northern Highlands Regional High School, 298 Hillside Avenue in Allendale March 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items featured at the show will include fiber; turned wood bowls; fine photography; pottery; florals; handmade silver, bead, coin, and stone jewelry; chocolates; apparel; girl’s hair accessories and embellished clothing; and denim quilts and jackets. There will also be table runners and
placemats; fused glass dishware; pressed flower serving plates; decoupage; tie dye; American Girl doll clothing; ceramics; handmade soaps, lotions, and candles; Civil War and collectible baseball card displays; wood furniture; country and garden items; stained glass; trays made from wine bottles; paintings; and origami. Face painting available and door prizes will also be available. The show will be set up in the vestibule, gym, and café, where a breakfast and lunch menu will be served. There will be two entrances to the show, one in the front and the other at the side of the school off the parking lot. Admission is $3.
