Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • March 2, 2011 Waldwick The Waldwick Council last week approved two bond ordinances that will fund various public improvements, equipment, and new vehicles. Ordinance 2-11 includes $15,000 for computer equipment for various borough departments. After the $750 down payment, the balance of $14,250 will be funded by bonds. A sum of $130,000 has been earmarked for the replacement of the parking lot lighting at the administration building and behind the public safety building, an emergency generator for Fire Company #2, and efficiency improvements at various municipal buildings. A portion of the funds will also be devoted to work at the municipal pool, including sandblasting and painting of the pool and improvements to the grounds. The down payment will be $6,200, with the balance of $123,800 funded by bonds. The ordinance also includes $93,000 for drainage improvements at Borough Park. This project will be covered by $35,000 from a Bergen County grant and $58,000 from the borough’s Open Space Trust Fund. A sum of $30,000 has been included for the installation of traffic calming pavement at East Prospect Street near Route 17. Of that total, $1,500 will be a down payment and $28,500 will be funded by bonds. An additional $30,000 has been included for the rehabilitation of Whites Pond. This project will be covered by an appropriation from the borough’s Open Space Trust Fund. Resurfacing and reconstruction of various borough roads will be carried out with a $200,000 appropriation. Of that sum, the down payment will be $9,525, and the balance of $190,475 will be covered by bonds. The roads to be resurfaced this year include Smith Court, Nallin Court, Donald Place, Duncan Street, Gateway Court, and Howard Place. An amount of $201,000 will be devoted to sewer system improvements, including an engineering study for storm Council approves bond ordinances for projects, vehicles water drainage improvements at Lindbergh Parkway, storm water sewer collection system upgrades to comply with state regulations, and storm water drainage improvements at Moore Avenue and in District 6, which includes the entire south side of Wyckoff Avenue from Franklin Turnpike to the Wyckoff border. Of the total appropriation, $9,575 will be a down payment and $191,425 will be funded by bonds. The department of public works will receive $13,500 worth of new communication and signal systems, including traffic devices and mobile radios. That expenditure will include a $650 down payment and $12,850 in bonds. Another $29,300 will be spent on new additional or replacement equipment for the DPW, including safety equipment for confined space entry, a tractor, a lawn mower, and a tire machine. That expenditure includes a down payment of $1,400 and $27,900 in bonds. A sum of $37,000 is included for installation of a lift gate on a DPW vehicle, and acquisition of a new four-wheel drive vehicle, including original apparatus and equipment. The down payment would be $1,850, with the balance funded by bonds. The ordinance also includes $72,450 for fire department equipment, including turnout gear, air packs and bottles, safety equipment for confined space entry, radios, pagers, helmet face pieces/SCBA bags, voice amplifiers, a fire hose, safety flashlights, and a radio desk upgrade for Fire Company #2. After the $3,710 down payment, $68,740 would be funded by bonds. The borough will also purchase an E-ticket system and a license plate reader system for the police department. This $36,500 appropriation will be funded by a down payment of $1,825 and $34,675 in bonds. The ordinance also includes the borough’s $100,000 contribution to the addition to the public library. The down payment will be $4,765, with the balance to be funded by bonds. The ordinance includes an aggregate appropriation of $987,750, with an $88,000 appropriation from the borough’s Open Space Trust Fund, a $35,000 appropriation from a Bergen County grant, an aggregate down payment of $41,750, and a total of $823,000 in bonds and notes. Ordinance 3-11 includes an $80,000 appropriation for the replacement of water mains, fire hydrants and valves, and leak detection and repair at various locations. Of the total expenditure, $3,810 will be the down payment and $76,190 will be funded by bonds. This ordinance also includes a sum of $35,000 for the acquisition of a van for the water department. The down payment will be $1,690 with the balance to be funded by bonds. The Village School, 100 West Prospect Street in Waldwick, will host an Open House on Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with the faculty and staff, talk to students, and tour the school. The Village School is the only Montessori school in northern New Jersey that offers Montessori education for Montessori School hosts Open House students from 18 months to middle school.
