Registration forms are available at http:// www.waldwickjrfootball.org Rick Mikula offers program on butterflies Award-winning author, lecturer, photographer, rainforest guide, and habitat consultant Rick Mikula will present, “More Than You Ever Wanted to Know about Butterflies,” at the Waldwick Public Library on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. In this fast-paced, high energy program that is as entertaining as it is educational, Mikula will discuss how to attract butterflies to the garden and much more. Mikula, also known as “That Butterfly Guy,” has appeared on numerous television shows, including Animal Planet Network, Discovery Channel, Fox Network, and Home & Garden and has been featured in over three dozen publications, including People, Organic Gardening, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. The program is free and open to the

Ladies Auxiliary hosts Saint Patrick’s Dinner The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 57 of Waldwick will host a Saint Patrick’s Dinner on Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at the Legion Post at 46 Franklin Turnpike in Waldwick. Tickets are $10, and the supply is limited. Films feature favorite actresses Waldwick Public Library hosts screenings of classic films on Thursdays at 2 p.m. A brief introduction setting the film in its historical context precedes each screening. The theme for the month of March is favorite actresses, and the schedule of screenings follows: March 3, “The Philadelphia Story” (1940) starring Katharine Hepburn; March 10, “A Place in the Sun” (1951) starring Elizabeth Taylor; March 17, “Johnny Belinda” (1948) starring Jane Wyman; March 24, “The Great Lie” (1941) starring Bette Davis and Mary Astor; March 31, “Love Me or Leave Me” (1955) starring Doris Day. Student-athletes commit on National Letter Signing Day

Multiple Bergen Catholic High School’s senior student-athletes participated in a letter-signing ceremony that was held at the school on “National Letter Signing Day.” Student-athletes from several sports signed letters of intent to reveal the colleges that plan to attend in the fall. Players who reside locally are mentioned below. Tight end Jack Gallagher of Allendale caught four passes for 28 yards and three TDs (including two scores against powerhouse Don Bosco Prep) last season. A blocker who earned Honorable Mention All-League honors, he will play football at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. LAX registration extended The Waldwick Lacrosse Association will extend its spring registration without late fees due to cancellations from recent snowstorms. Second-Team All-County and First-Team All-League awards. Jamie Ward of Glen Rock had a “breakout” season on the lacrosse field last spring as he tied for the B.C. team scoring lead with 34 goals and added six assists for a total of 40 points. He will attend The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in the fall. Brendan Walsh, PC’s 6’2, 275 pound guard, signed with Colgate University, where he will be playing football for Head Coach Dick Biddle. Walsh, who was also considering Bucknell University, Lafayette, and Wagner College, is a resident of Waldwick. His parents, Brian and Lynn Walsh, attended the signing ceremony. Brian Walsh, is a PC Alumnus from the Class of 1975. His sister, Mary, graduated from PC in 2007. in grades three through eight is $110, plus a $25 fee required for the U.S. Lacrosse league. Graduation Ball fundraiser set The Waldwick High School Grad Ball 2011 will host a Fashion Show dinner fundraiser, “Down the Shore,” on Tuesday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Township.
