Benny B. Boyatan of Ridgewood died June 1. He was 83. He is survived by his wife Sandra Boyatan (nee Desilets), his son Mert Boyatan, his step-daughter Beth Kelly O’Keefe, and three grandchildren. Jean MacLean Bunfield of Coral Springs, Florida, formerly of Wyckoff, died May 30. She was 78. She had a 20-year career with Murphy Realty and Coldwell Banker. She is survived by her daughters Susan Creange of North Haledon, and Lisa-Dianne Gray of Aurora, Colorado, three grandchildren, and her sister Nauldine Dower of Banton, Oregon. Carole Ann Czubaruk, nee Doran, formerly of Upper Saddle River and Bonita Springs, Florida, died May 27. She was 75. She is survived by her daughters Karen of Hackensack, Kathy of Epping, New Hampshire, Kim of Leesburg, Virginia, and four grandchildren. He was on the board of governors for the Federal Reserve Bank, New York, New York, and he had been a bank examiner for the City of Paterson. He is survived by his children Teresa Welch of Warrington, Pennsylvania, and Alfreda Moschella of Succasunna, nine grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Teresa M. She received a bachelor’s degree in business from Adelphi College in 1989. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She received her master’s degree in graphic design at Pratt Institute in 1993 and was head of the art department at Cyber Warrior in Fair Lawn. She was a member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church. She is survived by her husband James Fitzmaurice, her children Zachary Fitzmaurice and Katherine Elizabeth, her parents Carol and Chuck Schaefer of Franklin Lakes, her sister Carolyn Weininger, and her brother Charles Schaefer. Holyoke, Massachusetts, died May 27. She was 88. She had a career in marketing administration, scheduling shows, and traveling throughout the country and Canada for the Ice Follies. She also worked for Paul Newsome Public Relations in New York City. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood and was a professed Dominican lay member. She is survived by her children Martha Ann Gaul of New York City, John Gaul of Ridgewood, Bernardine Hare of Florham Park, and Frank Gaul of Glen Rock, and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John P. (Jack) Gaul, her brothers Thomas F. Burke of East Longmeadow and Dr. John J. Burke of Holyoke, and her sister Teresa Bigelow Suffield, Connecticut. He is survived by his children Gina Pietrocco and Lisa Sheriff, his stepchildren Anthony Vallone and Linda Malone, six grandchildren, and his sister Pauline Signorelli. (continued from page 5) well-trained volunteers from the community. Today, fire department members are trained at the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute in Mahwah. The 150-hour training process includes time spent in the classroom and handson exercises. The program includes fire fighting methods and search and rescue techniques. Several Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters have also completed the institute’s course that highlights decision-making and leadership in emergency situations, and the advanced course that covers topics such as construction principles and vehicular fires. The department’s members keep up-to-date by participating in annual training exercises that allow firefighters to practice their skills in controlled conditions. Over the past 100 years, about 250 Ho-Ho-Kus residents have served as borough firefighters. The current roster of officers includes Chief Christopher Raimondi, Assistant Chief Mark Zatorski, Captain Matthew Menzel, First Lieutenant Edmund Iannelli, Second Lieutenant Brian Dench, President Waldemar Kuenzel, Vice President Christopher Joy Sr., Secretary Walter Peterson, and Treasurer Richard Keely.
