This 8 p.m. session will be held in the media center and will include a public hearing on the school business administrator’s contract. June Book Sale set The Friends of the Upper Saddle River Library will hold the last Used Book Sale before the summer on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale will include an extensive collection of books for all ages. Annual Strawberry Festival set The Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church in Upper Saddle River will host its 54th Annual Strawberry Festival on June 11 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the church located at 318 West Saddle River Road. The community is invited to help celebrate with performances by Applause Performing Arts, selected scenes from the musical Children of Eden, and family activities and foods. The church nursery school will hold an Open House from 2 to 5 p.m. that day. The festival will include strawberry desserts, beverages, hamburgers, hotdogs, and other foods for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the church’s fundraising efforts. Retail vendors will offer a variety of goods and fundraising contests will auction prizes. Book group to discuss ‘Cutting for Stone’ Coffee Talk Book Group at the Upper Saddle River Library will discuss Abraham Verghese’s “Cutting for Stone” on June 9 at 10:30 a.m. Copies of the books are available at the circulation desk. Church hosts career management speaker Rosemary Ervin, CPA, will present a career management program at the Church of the Presentation. “Managing Your Finances during Unemployment” will be held Wednesday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. Ervin presents financial literacy programs sponsored by the New Jersey Society of CPAs. Best-selling authors to appear The Saddle River Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host its annual luncheon on June 21 at The Tuxedo Club, 17 West Lake Road in Tuxedo Park, New York. Guest speakers will be best-selling authors Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a reception and book signing by the mother-daughter authors. They will sign copies of their latest novels, “I’ll Walk Alone” by Mary Higgins Clark and “Mobbed” by Carol Higgins Clark. Food Drive to benefit local pantry The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club is continuing its monthly Food Drive to assist the Center for Food Action. Throughout the month of February, the Juniors will be collecting hot and cold cereal; oatmeal, farina, and lowsugar and healthy children’s varieties are welcome. The Center for Food Action provides emergency food, rental, and utility assistance; and counseling and advocacy to those in need in Bergen County and in the Upper Passaic Valley. Donations may be dropped off at the Saddle River Post Office, 177 East Saddle River Road, or at the office of Dr Joanne Florio, SRVJWC member, at 715 East Saddle River Road.
