Waldwick June 8, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 13 The Waldwick Community is again rallying to help one of its own with a special benefit concert and pasta dinner scheduled for Wednesday, June 8 at The Hermitage, 335 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-HoKus. Life-long Waldwick resident Laura Adams, co-founder of Take Away Gourmet, has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, AML She is undergoing chemotherapy at Hackensack University Medical Center and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. The fundraiser is a joint effort by her friends and several community organizations to help offset her rising medical costs. The evening will include a live concert by the band, R.C.M. as well as a pasta dinner with a variety of pasta sauces, garlic bread and salad. The members of the band, Roger Retort, Corey O’Connell and Matt Roy, have been playing together since 2005. Together with their friends, Steve and Stevie Kozlowski, these musicians are donating their time to help Adams. R.C.M.’s diverse musical sets include acoustic songs ranging from the early ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s to today’s hits. “We are overwhelmed by the amazing outpouring of physical, emotional and monetary support of this town and the surrounding towns in support of Laura and my family. The ‘circle’ of people that surrounds us grows every day, from family and neighbors, to the Waldwick school system, to the people that run our wonderful town, to new found friends and supporters in Concert at The Hermitage to benefit Laura Adams neighboring towns and abroad. We say thank you!” said Laura’s husband, Chuck, last week. Chuck Adams said that Laura is back in Hackensack Hospital for another intense round of chemotherapy to keep the leukemia count as low as possible. “She is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant, but to date we do not have a donor. We had one last week (after 13.9 million people were scanned worldwide), but it was cancelled due to a blood test on the donor’s side that was not favorable for Laura. This transplant is our only hope,” Chuck Adams said. The concert and pasta event is a BYOB and will also include a tricky tray. Friends of Laura Adams, The Hermitage, the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce, David & Lisa Barthold of Coldwell Banker Realtors, the Waldwick Community Alliance, Taylor Rental of Franklin Lakes, and local community merchants have donated their time, services, and products to make this event possible. One hundred percent of the monies raised will be donated directly to Laura Adams. A limited number of tickets is available for sale at $35 per person. To find out ticket availability, call Janet at 201-612-9873 or stop in at Plaza Jewelers, 10 E. Prospect St. Waldwick. Additional donations may be sent to Laura Adams, c/o Take Away Gourmet, 26 W.
