Waldwick July 27, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 11 The Waldwick Board of Education has not decided how it will allocate the additional aid it expects to receive from the state as a result of the 2011-12 state budget. Give back a little,” said Adele Badalamenti, a frequent speaker at board meetings. “It’s not a lot, but it is a great way to be part of the community. It means something to the taxpayers,” she added. “It would be nice to say thank you,” concurred board President Patty Levine, who nonetheless reserved judgment as to what should be done with the additional funds. The board was notified earlier this month that it would be receiving an additional $254,781 in state aid for the coming school year. Business Administrator John Griffin said that the buildings and grounds committee would be discussing the issue and would make a recommendation to the full board. “We could put it in the capital reserve fund,” said Griffin. “Most boards are not putting it into tax relief,” he added. Levine noted that the amount would translate into a $34 reduction in taxes per household for each of the next two years. “We have plenty of projects we can use it for. We’ll give it much thought,” she said. Griffin said that the board still has the option of using the funds for tax relief when it prepares its 2012-13 budget. “We would have had to jump through hoops to give it back this year,” he said, because of the late notice given by the state of the additional revenue. Progress report The Waldwick Warriors 11U baseball team finished in second place in the NJYB State Tournament. They will now move on to the 2011 AABC Gil Hodges World Series in Brooklyn.
