The shell is located behind the municipal building at 100 East Allendale Road. Club welcomes new members The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club welcomes new members. The club’s work involves community outreach projects and fundraisers for non-profit organizations on the local, regional, and state levels. Club collects donations for veterans The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club is seeking donations of clothing and personal products to benefit veterans’ homes located in Menlo Park, Paramus, and Vineland. The homes are open to men and women who have served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. The residents, who live on a fixed living allowance, have their health needs met, but are in need of personal care items and basic clothing. The club is seeking donations of the following items: men’s new (with tags attached) sweatshirts and sweatpants in size large through 3XL, and T-shirts in medium through 3XL; deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, denture care products (no liquids); batteries; sunglasses with dark lenses; and electric razors. Kindergarten registration encouraged Residents with kindergarten age children who were unable to register by the Feb. 1 deadline are encouraged to call Reynolds School at (201) 961-6300 to make an appointment as soon as possible. To register, a parent will need a completed enrollment packet, and must provide an original birth certificate, a physical exam form completed by the child’s physician, and four proofs of residency. Parents should be prepared to make a screening appointment for the child. Newcomers announce events The Saddle River Valley Newcomers Club welcomes all residents from Saddle River and Upper Saddle River, regardless of the length of their residency. New Cub Scouts welcome Registration for Upper Saddle River Cub Scouts is under way for the 2011-12 school year. All boys entering grades one through five are encouraged to join. Bridge Club seeks players The Bridge Club at the Upper Saddle River Library meets on Mondays at 7 p.m. or Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Anyone who is interested may register at the library, which is located at 245 Lake Street. Free health consultations offered The Valley Hospital Community Health Department in conjunction with the Saddle River Board of Health will continue to conduct free adult health consultations for Saddle River residents on the first Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at 10 Wolf Run, Saddle River. The sessions consist of blood pressure, pulse, and weight monitoring. Information including such health concerns as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and a review of medications will also be discussed. All services are provided by a registered nurse. Each year, the Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club recognizes the outstanding service and dedication of its members. Awards for the 2010-11 fiscal year were recently presented to MaryAnne Arber and Judi Mottle, who were awarded “Outstanding New Juniors of the Year.” The club president presents this award to members who, in their first year of service, have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a positive impact on the mission of the SRVJWC. Julie Belardinelli and Jeanine Matthews were selected “Outstanding Juniors of the Year” by the executive board for their dedicated service to the club and its efforts to help those in need. Joanne Florio, a past president, was placed on the General Federation of Women’s Clubs’ Honor Roll, the highest recognition a Junior can receive.
