Waldwick July 13, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 5 Contractors last week poured more than 100 yards of concrete for the floor of Waldwick’s new water tank slated for the Franklin Avenue site in Wyckoff. The pre-cast, prestressed panels that make up the walls of the tank are being poured concurrently, using another 200 yards of concrete. Construction of the 750,000 gallon tank is expected to take about a month, according to Borough Administrator Gary Kratz. “We are very excited, absolutely, about getting this project going,” Kratz said. “We’re looking forward to getting it completed and putting it on line.” That is expected to happen in the fall, according to Mike DeSena of Stantec, the project engineers. The other two tanks on the property will be taken down once this one is operational so as not to affect service to residents, Kratz said. The project is being done by Natgun Corp. of Wakefield, Massachussets. Project Manager Chris Johannson said that 17 tons of steel, including 6 ½ in the floor alone, and 9,000 lbs. of pre-stressed wire are going into the new structure. Natgun was the low bidder for the project at a price of $916,080, which includes demolition of the existing tanks, one of World War II vintage and the other dating back to 1953. A dog run which had been proposed for the borough as a Boy Scout Eagle project has been dropped. The Scout will instead refurbish the cupola which previously graced the old municipal building on Prospect Street.
