After this date, a $15 late fee will be added and registrants may be placed on a waiting list. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, as their involvement is critical to the success of the programs. Winter Book Sale set The Friends of the Allendale Library will hold a Winter Book Sale on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby and upstairs in the Lee Memorial Library, 500 West Crescent Avenue, Allendale. Due to the generosity of the community, donations include an abundance of new and gently used books for adults and children, CDs, and videos. Books include best-sellers, history, science fiction, education, travel, and more. Items are available at prices that start at 25 cents. The sale will include a “books by the bag” offer. Proceeds from the sale go directly to the library to purchase new books and other resources. Auxiliary plans Wine Tasting The Allendale Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host its fifth annual Wine Tasting Event at the Park and Orchard Restaurant in East Rutherford on Sunday, Jan. 30 from 2 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person and include a selection of red and white wines and hot and cold appetizers. Prizes and other “pre-Super Bowl” activities will also be part of the event. All proceeds will go directly to Valley Hospital’s Center for Women’s Heart Health, which was established to raise awareness of the cause, symptoms, and prevalence of heart disease in women, and to provide comprehensive heart risk assessment for them. Fashion show organizers currently seeking sponsors The Allendale Woman’s Club’s upcoming show, “Making Fashion History,” will be held on April 6. The fashion show will benefit the restoration of The John Fell House in Allendale. The evening will be held at Seasons in Washington Township, and will feature a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, gift basket prizes, and the fashion show. As the primary beneficiary of the fundraiser, The Fell House will receive 50 per- cent of the proceeds, with the remaining funds to be designated to assist other local charities and organizations.
