Saddle River January 19, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 7 Samuel Raia elected new NJGOP chairman The New Jersey Republican State Committee has voted 20-1 to elect Samuel Raia as the new Republican Party chairman. Raia, who is the mayor of Saddle River, previously served on that municipality’s council. He is the owner of Raia Properties, Inc. in Ramsey and is a member of the board of directors of Hackensack University Medical Center and of the New Jersey Commerce and Industry Association. He and his wife of 41 years, Tina Mary, have four children and 11 grandchildren. “I look forward to working with Chairman Raia in the months ahead, as we continue to grow the party and build on the accomplishments of the last two years,” New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said of Raia’s appointment. “I am incredibly honored for the opportunity to lead the party, and thank Governor Christie and the State Committee for placing their trust in me. There is no doubt this is an important election year. During the coming months, I plan on working closely with the party leadership to win back control of the State Senate and Assembly this fall,” said Chairman Raia. NJGOP National Committeeman Bill Palatucci described Raia as a successful business owner and seasoned elected official, saying Raia is a good fit to lead State Committee and brings a lot to the table.
