Individuals who are at least 18 years of age are encouraged to receive a flu vaccine. Participants with Medicare Part B must show their card in order to receive the vaccine. A $25 fee will be charged to those who do not have Medicare Part B. Those with Medicare HMO, or Medicare Advantage, may choose to go to their primary care provider or pay $25 for a flu vaccination. Graduation Ball fundraiser set The Waldwick High School Grad Ball 2011 will host a Fashion Show dinner fundraiser, “Down the Shore,” on Tuesday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Township. Traphagen PSO plans Military Bridge fundraiser Waldwick’s Julia A. Traphagen’s PSO will host its 13th Annual Military Bridge and Prize Basket fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 4 at Waldwick High School. Snow date: Feb. 5. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Appetizers, refreshments, and dessert will be served. Over 100 prize baskets and a cash prize will be available. Tickets, sold in advance, are $20; the cost of a table is $80. Included with the admission is a sheet of prize tickets, and a door prize ticket. Kindergarten/new student registration set Registration for the September 2011 kindergarten classes in Waldwick will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at 9 a.m. at Julia A. Traphagen School, and at 1:30 At a recent AAA North Jersey Traffic Safety Luncheon, Waldwick officials received an AAA Award of Merit. The award is presented to communities for their outstanding traffic safety program activities. The Waldwick Police Department combats aggressive driving and other dangerous traffic offenses through enforcement and educational activities in the community. Child passenger safety seat inspections and DWI checkpoints are run on a regular basis. AAA honors Waldwick police p.m. at Crescent School. Parents or guardians must bring a birth certificate or other proof of age and two proofs of residency to registration. Acceptable residency proofs include utility bills with name and address and a lease, deed, or tax bill for the residence. To be eligible for next fall’s class, children must be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2011, have a complete physical examination after Sept. 1, 2010, and have complete immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, rubella, rubeola, mumps, hepatitis B, and chickenpox. Parents or guardians must furnish a written record of the month, day, and year of all immunizations. Registration forms are available on the district’s website, www.waldwick.k12.nj.us, under each school’s website or may be picked up at Crescent and Traphagen schools during school hours. Parents of private school kindergarten students who are planning to attend a Waldwick public school for first grade in September 2011 are also asked to register their children by Jan. 26. These students must meet the same immunization requirements as kindergarteners. Mercedes fundraiser sales extended The Waldwick Community Alliance’s Mercedes-Benz C300 car fundraiser has been extended until Feb. 27. Proceeds will benefit the restoration of the Waldwick Train Station. Tickets are $100 each, and only 750 will be sold. Deadline approaches for pet license renewals Waldwick residents are reminded their annual pet licenses must be renewed before Feb. 1. A valid rabies certificate must be presented, with the expiration date no earlier than October of the licensing year. There has been a fee increase: $15 for spayed/neutered dogs, and $18 for unaltered dogs. After Feb.1, a late fee of $10 will be imposed. Cat license fees are $15 and must be accompanied by a valid rabies certificate as cited above. No additional fee is charged for unaltered cats. Licenses may be renewed by mail.
