Ten students sign letters of intent for fall sports
Don Bosco Prep recently held a special photo event in honor of National Signing Day for 10 students who signed letters of intent to play college sports in the fall. Six students who are players on the Ironman Varsity Soccer Team under Coach Mark Maka committed to play soccer in college. Don Bosco Prep’s soccer commitments include Shawn Citro, Sandy Leavy, Giovanni Esposito, Ryan McNamara, Atticus DeProspo, and Justin Lorenzo. Citro, a resident of Oakland, has committed to attend Babson College, Babson Park, MA. At Don Bosco Prep, he is a member of the National Honor Society and Spectrum. Leavy, a resident of Clarkstown, New York, has accepted a scholarship to play for Lafayette College in Easton, PA. In addition to being a member of the National Honor Society, he plays basketball for his local JCC, and is a volunteer on his community ambulance squad. Esposito, who resides in River Vale, has accepted a scholarship to attend Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. He is a member of the Italian Honor Society and has an interest in economics. McNamara of West Nyack, New York, has committed to the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. At Don Bosco Prep, he is active as a student ambassador and as a member of the environmental awareness club. DeProspo, a resident of Goshen, New York, has committed to attend Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Lorenzo, a Park Ridge resident, will attend Babson College, Babson Park, MA, on scholarship. He is a member of the National Honor Society at Don Bosco Prep. Don Bosco Prep’s Greg Hazell of Airmont, New York has committed to attend Sacred Heart Univesity, Fairfield, CT, for multiple event cross country. “There aren’t many track scholarships available and Greg is talented and has been a key part of our team for four years. It’s nice to see him reap rewards like this,” Coach Rob De Carlo said of Hazell’s progress and success. Don Bosco students who have committed to play football include Lars Larsen of Upper Saddle River, Gary Nova of Elmwood Park, and Paul Canevari of Warwick,

Nova, who is quarterback for the Ironmen, has committed to play for Rutgers University in New Brunswick. He is also a member of the Ironmen Varsity Basketball Team.
Canevari, a running back, will also attend Rutgers University. He is also a member of Don Bosco’s track team. “It’s exciting when you see kids come to Don Bosco and they do well and they fulfill their dreams and go to major colleges. It shows how hard they work and how determined they are. It shows a lot about their families and about Don Bosco Prep,” Coach Greg Toal said of his players and their achievements.
