Waldwick February 16, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 7 On Sunday, May 1, the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce will host its Fourth Annual 5K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk, rain or shine. Chamber President/Race Coordinator Christine Figliuolo and 5K Race Director Stan Kowalski encourage the community to support the race by becoming a sponsor. “This event attracts runners from Waldwick as well as many other surrounding towns. This year, we are anticipating over 500 runners and walkers to participate. Please join us in the support of this community endeavor by becoming a sponsor today,” Figliuolo urged. There are six levels of sponsorship: bronze, $100; silver, $250; gold, $500; platinum, $1,000; premium, $2,500; and presenting, $3,500. “All proceeds from the race will benefit the community of Waldwick, with a special donation given to Kisses 4 Kelly,” Figliuolo Chamber seeks 5K sponsors; proceeds to aid local family added. “As many of you may be aware, Kelly Bjork, a 16-year-old resident, has been faced with some very serious health challenges in recent months. Kelly and her family will not only need your prayers, but also your monetary support to help offset their rising medical expenses. As a sponsor of this event, you will not only be contributing to the community, but helping the Bjork family through this difficult time.” The 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk will begin at Waldwick High School’s turf field. Registration will take place from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. at the Waldwick High School track at Wyckoff Avenue and Hopper Avenue, Waldwick. The 5K will begin at 9 a.m., and the 1 Mile Walk will begin at 9:30. Organizers of the 5K have had the course certified and sanctioned by the USATF. The course includes rolling hills, a scenic park, and a track finish. This race is a New Jersey Grand Prix Event, and participants will qualify for 500 points. Race results will be posted online at Bestrace.com. No pets, roller blades, bikes, or skateboards will be permitted during the 5K. However, strollers will be permitted during the 1 Mile Fun Walk.
