Chamber to meet The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 8:30 a.m. at the Energy Zone Café, 136 Hopper Avenue in Waldwick. The group meets the third Wednesday of the month. Comedy Night to benefit Kisses 4 Kelly The Waldwick Lions Club and Servpro of Northwest Bergen are sponsoring a Comedy Night featuring Tom Cotter on Friday, Feb. 11 to benefit Kisses 4 Kelly. The event will be held at Saint Luke’s Church gym, 340 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Kisses 4 Kelly is an organization that aims to help offset a local family’s rising medical expenses. Tickets are $35 and include five prize baskets tickets. Parents should note that Cotter’s material may be inappropriate for children under age 14. For more information, call Cathy at (201) 566-3416. All proceeds will be donated to Kelly’s family. ESL students to tour borough hall Students of the Waldwick Public Library’s English as a Second Language programs will get a lesson in municipal government when they tour the borough’s administration building on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. The tour is one of a series of field trips planned to familiarize foreign-born library patrons with American history, customs, and government. Other tours organized by ESL coordinators Kathy Garden and Dorothy Lux included the Hermitage, Fairway Market, the public safety building, and area restaurants. Waldwick Library hosts two ESL programs that are free and open to adults who want assistance learning and speaking English. ESL Conversation Group meets on Mondays at 10:15 a.m. The program is designed to engage students in lively dialogue about issues they face in their daily lives. The group meets on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. Designed for students at all levels, the class focuses on reading and comprehension, but includes other activities to assist students in

Club hosts Sunday Dinner The Italian American Social Club of Waldwick will present Sunday Dinner at Mamma’s on Feb. 20. All proceeds will benefit the alcohol- and drug-free 2011 Waldwick Graduation Ball. All are welcome to attend and experience real homemade tomato/meat sauce, quality durum pasta cooked on the spot al dente, and insalata with Sicilian olive oil served in the traditional Italian family-style. A special performance by musical guest Greg Caldarone is included. The dinner will be held at Saint Luke’s RC Church, lower level gymnasium, 340 North Franklin Turnpike, HoHo-Kus from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, and $10 for children under 12 years old. Book Club to discuss ‘The Bible Salesman’ The Waldwick Library Book Club will host a discussion of “The Bible Salesman” by Clyde Edgerton on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7:15 p.m. The Lord works in humorously mysterious ways in this Southern picaresque teaming of a jaded car thief and a young, impressionable Bible salesman. Copies of the book are available at the library circulation desk. The book club welcomes new members or drop-ins from Waldwick and neighboring towns. Film Series features screen debuts Waldwick Public Library hosts screenings of classic films on Thursdays at 2 p.m. A brief introduction setting the film in its historical context will precede each screening. The theme for the month of February is screen debuts. The schedule includes: Feb. 10, “The Killers” starring Burt Lancaster (1946); Feb. 17, “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” starring
Greer Garson (1939); and Feb. 24, “Golden Boy” starring William Holden (1939). Classic film screenings are free and open to the public. Preschool holds Open House The Little School of Waldwick at 40 Franklin Turnpike will hold an Open House on March 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The school offers programs for children ages two through six. Denise and Bob Lion - owner’s of Favourtique – are our newest ‘shining stars.’ I was not only impressed with their creativity when I saw what they produce but loved their passion,” commented Chamber President Christine Figlioulo. “Now that they have stepped up to take on the task of decorating the clock area, I’m even more impressed. When I asked if they would like to start with Valentine’s Day, they replied ‘yes’ without hesitation. They are true professionals who can get the job done while making the center of town look beautiful!” she added. The Waldwick Chamber spearheaded sprucing up the clock area a couple of years ago, and its members have been doing the actual work on a seasonal basis.
