Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • February 2, 2011 Waldwick Family and friends enjoy the winter weather John Post of Waldwick (pictured at right) has taken advantage of this winter’s deep freeze by again creating an 80 by 30 foot skating rink in his back yard. Post built the rink for his four children, Julia, Sara, Garrett, and Matthew. He has been doing this for many years. The rink takes about one week to build. He then has to wait to flood the pond until the weather gives him a stretch of about three nights under 20 degrees so it freezes solid. Once frozen, it becomes a little Rockefeller Center in the back of his own home. Post and his wife Kim enjoy sharing the pond with friends and family, who have an open invitation to come and skate. The Posts’ kitchen is set up with many extra pairs of skates to borrow, and the hot chocolate is always ready. After dark, the Posts turn on the lights and play music. ‘Dancing Queen’ is a favorite selection.
