Waldwick
Waldwick will finally be replacing its aging oil separator at the public works garage after a couple of years of delays. The borough council last week awarded the contract for the new unit to T.R. Weniger Inc. The company’s bid of $47,777 was the lowest of five bids, ranging in price up to $65,000. “The existing separator has fallen on hard times,” quipped Borough Administrator Gary Kratz. He noted that a working generator is required by the NJ Department

of Environmental Protection (DEP). Kratz explained that trucks are washed and serviced at the garage, and that without the separator, contaminated water can run into the storm drain system. The proposed work includes a drainage system for the water and for separating out the oil. Kratz said that project had been included in the 2009 budget but postponed due to other priorities. It will now be done from funds in the 2009 budget.
