Dennis T. Gagnon of Ramsey died Dec. 10. He was vice president and counsel of New York Life Insurance Co. in New York City. He was a parishioner of Saint Paul’s R.C. Church in Ramsey. He was a single engine pilot and a supporter of Fordham Preparatory and Fordham University. He is survived by his wife Virginia Gagnon (nee Feury), his daughter Katie, his father George Gagnon, and stepmother Anna. He was predeceased by his mother Rose, and brother Edward. Diane F. Hailparn, nee Finnegan of Mahwah died Dec. 13. She was 62. Arrangements were made by Van EmburghSneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Louis R. Infante of Ho-Ho-Kus died Dec. 13. He was 87. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. A developer and engineer, he established the family firm of Infante Associates of Ridgewood, whose projects included banks, office parks, and large commercial retail space in the tri-state area. He served as president of the Ridgewood Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a board member of the Bergen Museum and of the Hermitage of Ho-Ho-Kus. As a past trustee of the Waldwick Board of Education, he was instrumental in building Waldwick High School. He was a member of the Ridgewood Country Club. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Leyrer), his children Mark Infante and Bruce Infante, three grandchildren, and his sister Carole Infante. He was predeceased by his brother Martin Infante of Ridgewood. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. She is survived by her daughters Debra and Susan, son-in-law Robert, three grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William McGowan. Matilda “Marge” Nero, nee Siedel of Wyckoff, formerly of Paterson, died Dec. 12. She was 93. She had been a volunteer in the library and the PTA at School 25 in Paterson many years ago. Dominick Padovano of Waldwick died Dec. 11. He was 89. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Before retiring, he had been a supervisor for Ford Motor Company in Mahwah for 25 years. He was a member of Saint Luke’s R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, where he served as an usher for many years and worked bingo. He is survived by his children Mary Eileen Staniewicz of Fair Lawn and Joseph Padovano of Wanaque, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brother Joseph Padovano of Staten Island, New York. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a Past Worshipful Master of Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge #200 Free and Accepted Masons. He was a member of the Ramsey Republican Club, the Boy Scouts, the Ramsey Little League, where he often umpired games, and was a longtime blood donor. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Stevens), his children Steven of Scottsdale, Arizona, Susan Sisti of Vernon, and Alison Dolan of Pearl River, New York, three grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews in New England. He was predeceased by his parents Thelma (Turner) and Harry Porteous of Malden, Massachusetts, and his sister Prudence Patterson of Reading, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of Don Bosco High School in Ramsey. Before retiring, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. He was a parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church in Mahwah. He is survived by his mother Frances, his sister Carolyn Gannon and her husband Kevin, and his nephews Christopher of Tuxedo, New York and Robert of Mahwah. He was predeceased by his father Stanley G. Zielinski. Arrangements were made by Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. in West Nyack, New York.
Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings
Board sets earlier meeting time Starting in January, the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education will hold its meetings at 7 p.m. Both work sessions and public sessions will begin at this new, earlier time. Christmas services scheduled The Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus has announced its schedule of Christmas services. Two services will be offered on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The 5:30 p.m. Family Worship will feature the children of the Sunday school program and youth and young adults. The traditional Candlelight Service will be held at 11 p.m. On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, the service will be held at 11 a.m. The church is located at 400 Warren Avenue. For more information, call (201) 445-6310. Council meeting is this week The Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council has decided to hold a combination work session and public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Council meetings are held at 8 p.m. at borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus. Kindergarten registration to begin Kindergarten registration for the 2012-13 school year will take place at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School, 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-Ho-Kus, on Thursday, Jan. 19. Registrations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school library. Incoming kindergartners must be five years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2012. Parents or guardians must bring the child’s birth certificate and two proofs of residency. Acceptable documents of residency are a copy of a deed or fully executed lease and a copy of current utility bill. For more information, call (201) 652-4555. Register for recreation basketball Ho-Ho-Kus/Saddle River Recreational Basketball is holding online registration for boys and girls in grades one and two through Dec. 31, after which time a $25 late fee will be imposed. The cost is $80 for children in grades one and two. There is a maximum fee of $210 per family. Registration for those in grades three through eight is closed.
