Allendale
The Allendale Recreation Commission will hold a 5K Run, rain or shine, on Sunday, May 15 at 9 a.m. The run will start at the red barn at Crestwood Lake, continue out and around ball fields up through Northern Highlands, and back through Crestwood Lake, ending at the red barn. The 5K race is USATF certified. The cost is $20 for those who preregister; $25 on the day of the race. There will also be a one-mile Fun Run and 50-yard dash for smaller children. Plans call for vendors, food, a DJ, and a T-shirt design contest. This event promises to be an exciting time for the community. The goal is to promote wellness and bring

vibrancy into Allendale. All Allendale merchants are invited to participate by setting up a table or booth at the red barn at no charge. This is an opportunity to promote local businesses to area residents. Businesses are encouraged to bring items to give away, brochures, food, etc. to showcase their companies. The event organizers also welcome sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities are available for $250 and $1,000, and $50 for family sponsorships. Sponsors’ names and logos will be featured on the back of the event T-shirt, on a thank you poster at the event, on the ARC website, and
on a thank you plaque. Sponsorship forms may be downloaded from the “sponsors” link at arcfkrun.org. Prospective sponsors may also send a check with their name, company name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and the name that should appear on the sponsor list to: Amy Wilczynski, 6 New Street, Allendale, NJ 07401. Checks should be made payable to “Allendale Recreation Commission,” which is a non-profit organization. Sponsorships and donations are tax deductible. (Tax ID# 22-2991014). Fundraiser to benefit Highlands Sports
The Northern Highlands Sports Association will host its Second Annual Golf Outing on Monday, May 16 at the High Mountain Golf Club in Franklin Lakes. Proceeds will support temporary lights for the fall sports programs and improvements to the Field of Dreams. The $195 per person fee includes lunch, a round of golf, cocktails, and dinner. All golfers are welcome to participate. The day will feature special contests and prizes for lowest net, closest to the pin, and longest drive.
Those who would like to enjoy cocktails and dinner only may do so for a $40 donation. The Northern Highlands Sports Association is a private organization composed of parents of high school students. Over the years, the group has been responsible for supporting everything from basic athletic equipment to the turf field at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale.
