Letters to the Editor
(continued from page 20) outstanding school system. I am especially indebted to the Northern Highlands’ invaluable music and performing arts program. Educators Teddi Sotiropoulos, Tom Pastor, and Laura Rokoszak offered my daughters the best in instrumental, drama, and vocal music classes. Also, their professional generosity and dedication to the superior extracurricular programs of marching band, drama production, a cappella group, jazz band, musical theater, Cabaret Nights, and talent shows provided my daughters with invaluable training and erudition. Their guidance in preparing the students for county and state music competitions was second to none. As past president of the parents’ Music & Performing Arts Association, I was able to closely observe the teachers’ amazing dedication, enthusiasm, and creativity, over an eight-year period. My daughters may have moved on, but the gifts that these teachers have given to them have not been forgotten. The foundation in music and theater provided by Northern Highlands has helped inspire them to pursue careers utilizing the many skills learned and practiced while studying there. Recently, I attended the “Suessical” production at Northern Highlands, which packed a full house. I was very moved to see that the quality of instruction and presentation remains superb, to the delight of the entire audience. I urge everyone in this community to vote yes to support the proposed budget on April 27, in order to continue to offer this high quality instruction and experience in music and performing arts, and many other exceptional programs in our school system. The tax increase of 1.06 percent is so minimal, considering the quality of education that our children are offered in this community. Gayle Ianuzzi Upper Saddle River

(continued from page 9) notice at least 10 days before the adoption hearing. At the March council session, Mayor Randall reported that municipal officials had been considering the possibility of limiting the number of restaurants/eateries that would be permitted to operate in the borough. At that meeting, Randall said the goal is to encourage a mix of businesses in town. He pointed to the need for access to the businesses, and limited parking has been a perennial concern in HoHo-Kus. After that meeting, the mayor told Villadom TIMES that the business diversity issue has been reviewed at the planning board level. Randall stressed the need for good communication with the local businesses and the Ho-HoKus Chamber of Commerce.
