DARE fundraiser announced On May 20 and 21, Chili’s of Ramsey, 900 Route 17 North in Ramsey, will host a fundraiser to benefit the Upper Saddle River DARE program. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of its total receipts for lunch, take out orders (including party platters), after school snacks, and dinner purchases from 11 a.m. to midnight. New exercise class offered Certified Tama-Do practitioner and instructor Sylvia D’Andrea will offer a Tao Yin Fa class at the Upper Saddle River Library, 245 Lake Street in Upper Saddle River, from May 4 through June 29. Tao Yin Fa (movement for health) is a specific series of Chi Kung movements that benefit the 12 organ acupuncture meridians. Practicing these movements with breath work, color, and sound energizes and directs chi through vital organs. D’Andrea, also an accredited practitioner of EMF Balancing Technique, will present a class for beginners in eight sessions. The polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Parents invited to anti-bullying program Cavallini Middle School will present “Ryan’s Story for Parents Only” on April 26 at 7:15 p.m. at the Glen Rock Middle School, 600 Harristown Road in Glen Rock. The program, delivered by John Harrigan, is the story of his experience as a father whose 13-year-old son took his own life after enduring incessant bullying by his peers, both in school and online. The story is riveting and powerful, and a reminder that there is a genuine person on the other end of the computer. The program is sponsored in part by the Upper Saddle River Youth Guidance Council and supported by the Upper Saddle River Police Department. This session is appropriate for adults only. No one under the age of 21 will be admitted. The students will be seeing an age-appropriate program at Cavallini Middle School on April 27. It is strongly suggested that parents, whether or not they attend the parent session, ask their children about the program and discuss it with them. Thrift shop announces Saturday opening The Clothes Lines Thrift Shop will be open on Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shop, which has a large selection of spring clothing for the entire family, is accepting donations of spring and summer items. Due to the limited storage, no more winter items can be accepted. The regular hours for the thrift shop are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items may be dropped off anytime during regular hours.
