A Good Friday service of the Tenebrae will be held April 22 at 8 p.m. in the chapel. On Easter Sunday, April 24, traditional services will be held at 9 and 11 a.m. There will also be a contemporary service celebrated at 9 a.m. Grace Methodist is located at 555 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff. Emmanuel announces services The Emmanuel Baptist Church, located on the corner of East Ridgewood Avenue and Hope Street, offers special services during Holy Week. On Maundy Thursday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m., communion will be offered around tables in the church’s Peace Lounge. On Good Friday, the sanctuary will be open for prayer from noon to 3 p.m. Hourly prayer guides will be available. Members of the board of deacons will serve as hosts. On Easter Sunday, April 24, an early service will be held at 7:30 a.m. The stained glass window depictions of the life of Jesus will be featured as focal points for meditation. An informal breakfast will follow. At 10:30 a.m., the Easter celebration will take place with choir and handbells. An outdoor Easter Egg Hunt for children will take place on the church lawn following the service. For further information, call the church office at (201) 444-7300. Easter season at Zion Zion Lutheran Church in Allendale will offer special services during Holy Week. On Maundy Thursday, April 21, there will be a Holy Communion service at 7:30 p.m. On Good Friday, April 22, there will be a 7:30 p.m. Tenebrae Service. Easter Sunday, April 24, will be celebrated at 6 a.m. with a Sunrise service with Holy Communion. The congregation will gather behind the church at the tomb. An Easter breakfast will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. the Easter Family service will be offered, and at 11 a.m. the Easter Festival service with Holy Communion. Zion Lutheran Church is located at 96 East Allendale Road in Saddle River. Good Friday devotional walk set On Good Friday, April 22, at noon, the Allendale Community of Churches invites the public to its annual Good Friday Worship Service, “The Way of the Christ’s Passion” devotional walk. All are invited. This year’s walk will begin outside Archer United Methodist Church, 37 East Allendale Avenue, and end in the sanctuary of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 320 Franklin Turnpike. Congregations from Archer United Methodist, Calvary Lutheran, Guardian Angel Roman Catholic, Highlands Presbyterian, Trinity Episcopal, and Zion Lutheran in Saddle River will participate in this event. Patterned after the Stations of the Cross, a procession of people, led by a large, roughly-hewn cross, will follow a prescribed route through Allendale. The procession will stop at 14 different locations for scripture reading and prayer. These 14 stations will recall Christ’s suffering and death and their contemporary implications. At the last station, a monetary offering for the Center for Food Action will be accepted. First Presbyterian Church announces services The First Presbyterian Church in Ramsey will celebrate Maundy Thursday, April 21, with an 8 p.m. worship and communion service. The Chancel Choir will provide the music. There will be personal reflection in the chapel from noon to 3 p.m. on Good Friday, April 22. A Solemn Worship service will be held at 8 p.m. Special music will be provided by harpist Penny McCulloch, soprano Donna Burdick, and organist Anita Bontekoe. Easter Sunday, April 24 worship with communion will be offered at 9:15 and 11 a.m. Festive music by The Agape Handbell Choir, the Chancel Choir, a brass quartet, the timpani, and organ. On April 21, Maundy Thursday, a 7:30 p.m. service with Holy Communion will be held. Two services are planned for Good Friday, April 22, at 3 p.m. a family service will be held; at 7:30 p.m. a special Tennebrae Service is planned. Easter Sunday, April 24, worship services will begin with a 7 a.m. Sunrise service, which will be held outside, weather permitting. Easter breakfast will be offered from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. a service with Holy Communion with special music will be offered. The church is located at 125 Glasgow Terrace in Mahwah. Holy Week Masses set Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mahwah will offer Mass on Holy Thursday, April 21 at 8 p.m. On Good Friday, April 22, a service will be held at 3 p.m. and the Living Stations of the Cross will be presented at 8 p.m. The Holy Saturday/Easter Vigil Mass will be held at 8 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 24, Masses will be said at 7:30, 9, 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available on April 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. The church is located at 900 Darlington Avenue in Mahwah.
