Chamber to meet The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce will meet on Wednesday, April 20 at 8:30 a.m. at the Energy Zone Café, 136 Hopper Avenue in Waldwick. Recycling update In 2010, the Borough of Waldwick recycled 618.5 tons of materials with GreenSky Industries. The borough saved close to $40,000 in tipping fees, since these materials were taken out of the waste stream; and GreenSky paid Waldwick $15,774 for the recyclables collected. Residents are reminded GreenSky Industries accepts the followings types of plastics: PET (PETE) soft drink bottles, cooking oil bottles, and peanut butter jars; HDPE detergent bottles and milk jugs; PVC shrink wrap, water bottles, and salad dressing bottles; LDPE dry-cleaning bags, produce bags, trash can liners, and food storage containers; PP bottle caps and
yogurt containers; PS plastic cups and plastic tableware; and #1-6 plastic food containers, Tupperware, and Nalgene bottles. Knights offer scholarships Saint Luke’s Knights of Columbus Council is offering four $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who are planning to attend college in the fall of 2011. The scholarships are funded by the proceeds of the Annual Golf Outing. Applications and instructions are available in the guidance department at Waldwick High School or by calling Chuck Farricker at (201) 670-9040. Applicants must live in Waldwick or Ho-Ho-Kus or be a registered member of Saint Luke’s parish. Application deadline is April 28. Boosters plan Golf Outing The Waldwick High School Athletic Association Booster Club will host the 2011 Warriors Golf Classic on Wednesday, June 29 at the Farmstead Golf and Country Club in Lafayette. The cost of the event is a donation of $125 per golfer and includes one round of golf, breakfast refreshments, a sit down lunch, and prizes. For a registration form, contact Kathy Vuoncino at (201)

Summer tennis instruction offered The Waldwick Tennis Instruction Program will run July 5 through 29 at Veteran’s Park. Participants, who should bring their own racket and balls, must be at least five years of age by Oct. 1, 2011. Players will be grouped by age. The cost of the program is $30 payable to the Borough of Waldwick. All residents
18 years or older must obtain a tennis badge from the borough clerk’s office for $20. Pre-registration is required for the program. The application form and payment are due by June 1. Registration forms may be found at www.waldwickpd.org/forms/tennis.pdf. Parents are reminded that crossing guards are not on duty during the summer. Young children should be dropped off and picked up at Veteran’s Park by parents or other responsible adults. A sign-in and sign-out policy has been instituted and will be enforced to ensure children’s safety.
