Jessica Glass, Christopher Scarpelli to wed
Jan Blandamer Glass and Alastair Malcolm Glass of Rumson have announced the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Fraser Glass, to Christopher Scarpelli, son of Kathleen and Joseph Scarpelli of Wyckoff. The bride-to-be attended Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. She earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Lehigh University in 2003. She is currently a client relationship manager with Deutsche Bank. Her fiancé is a 2001 graduate of Ramapo High School and a 2005 graduate of Amherst College. He is a trader at Barclay’s Capital. An October 2011 wedding is planned.
Stephanie Chervenak, daughter of John and Caroline Chervenak of Allendale, married Dan Field of Cromwell, Connecticut, son of Anita Field of Berlin, Connecticut, at the Church of Saint Mary in New Britain, on Feb. 11. The reception was held in Hartford. Erin Beckwith served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Alana Rebollo, Elizabeth Mullen, and Sara Orenstein from Allendale. The groom’s brother, Andrew Field stood as best man. Bryan Mercier, Geoffrey King, and Justin Bair served as groomsmen. The bride is a clinical psychology doctoral student at the University of Hartford. She is currently finishing her dissertation, conducting neuro-psychological assessments for individuals with schizophrenia at the Institute of Living in Hartford, and conducting individual psychotherapy sessions at Middlesex Center for Behavioral Health. The groom is a high school religion teacher at Xavier High School, a boys’ Catholic prep school. He attended Catholic University of America and earned his BA in philosophy. He continued his education at Fordham University, where he earned his master’s degree. He is currently working on his MS Ed. at Saint Joseph’s College in Maine. Following their ceremony, the couple honeymooned on a cruise to the Caribbean. They reside in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Letters to the Editor
(continued from page 18) In my business, I work with many buyers and sellers and I can tell you that the number one reason people want to live in our towns is because of the superb schools. In New Jersey Monthly magazine, Northern Highlands is rated as one of the top 10 schools in the state year after year. Buyers walk into my office with the article in hand! Despite the fact that prices are down, people still want to live in the towns with the highest-rated school systems. Let’s not lose that ranking. It would be a shame if the local real estate market suffered even more because our schools lost their wonderful reputation. We have some wonderful programs in the high school including DECA. Sandy Helfand, our dedicated DECA advisor (who lost his battle to cancer just one week ago), brought our school to number one in the state in competition last year. What a shame it would be if we could not replace him with an advisor with equal dedication, skill, and knowledge. As president of the Allendale Chamber of Commerce, The Allendale/Saddle River Rotary Club, and a proud Allendale resident, I urge everyone to support the Allendale and Upper Saddle River school budgets.
