Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • April 13, 2011 Allendale Notebook Football registration underway The Northern Highlands Junior Football Association invites players in grades two through eight who reside in Allendale and Upper Saddle River to join the Bulldogs for the upcoming tackle football season. Registration is now open; forms are available at www.leaguelineup.com/nhjfa and by contacting Registrar Rosemarie Hebner at rhebner@optonline.net. Registration is due by May 15. The season will begin in midAugust. Good Friday devotional walk set On Good Friday, April 22, at noon, the Allendale Community of Churches invites the public to its annual Good Friday Worship Service, “The Way of the Christ’s Passion” devotional walk. All are invited. This year’s walk will begin outside Archer United Methodist Church, 37 East Allendale Avenue, and end in the sanctuary of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 320 Franklin Turnpike. Congregations from Archer United Methodist, Calvary Lutheran, Guardian Angel Roman Catholic, Highlands Presbyterian, Trinity Episcopal, and Zion Lutheran in Saddle River will participate in this event. Patterned after the Stations of the Cross, a procession of people, led by a large, roughly-hewn cross, will follow a prescribed route through Allendale. The procession will stop at 14 different locations for scripture reading and prayer. These 14 stations will recall Christ’s suffering and death and their contemporary implications. At the last station, a monetary offering for the Center for Food Action will be accepted. Clothes Line Thrift Shop announces Saturday opening The Clothes Lines Thrift Shop will be open on Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shop, which has a large selection of spring clothing for the entire family, is accepting donations of spring and summer items. Due to the limited storage, no more winter items can be accepted. The regular hours for the thrift shop are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items may be dropped off anytime during regular hours. The Clothes Line Thrift Shop will be closed April 22, Good Friday, and the first week in May to prepare for the Attic, Basement & Garage Sale scheduled for May 7 and hosted by Archer United Methodist Church. Egg Hunt set Allendale/Waldwick PBA Local 217 will hold its 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 16 at the Waldwick High School Turf Football Field at 10 a.m. Rain date is April 23. Allendale and Waldwick children through grade five are invited. Egg gatherers will be divided into the following age groups: toddler through kindergarten, grades one through three, and Students act out! grades four and five. Admission is free, and the Easter Bunny will be available to visit with the children. Children are encouraged to bring baskets to carry their eggs. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras. Lenten events underway Highlands Presbyterian Church’s traditional soup and bread suppers will be held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. now through April 13. Bring a soup bowl and spoon and join the group for warm fellowship. An offering In Allendale, the Brookside Hillside Music and Art Association recently sponsored an Improvisation Club for fourth and fifth graders. Under the direction of Mrs. Suzanne Trupia, the students learned improvisation skills and how to put them to use in front of an audience over 11 sessions. An improvisation night was held for friends and family to showcase their skills. will be taken up for the church’s mission treasury, which is used for local, national, and global ministries.
