Warren H. Ecke of Allendale died March 28. He was 90. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Pace University, and worked for 48 years with Kearfott/ Singer. He was an active member of his church, VFW Post, and other community service projects. He is survived by his wife Alice, his children Robert of Wilton, Connecticut, Karen Ecke of Pondicherry, India, and Christine King of Weare of New Hampshire, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to Highlands Presbyterian Church, 270 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale, NJ 07401. James J. Foley of Waldwick died March 29. He was 82. He was a U.S. Navy Air Corps veteran. Before retiring in 1993, he worked for Marcato Co. and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3 in New York City for 45 years. He was a parishioner of Saint Luke R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus where he was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the choir, the Lucans, and Renew. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and Past Grand Knight of Council 5257. He is survived by his wife Catherine (Griffin) Foley, his children Catherine Foley, Trish Suttile, Maryann Foley, and Ellen Tesoro, seven grandchildren, and his siblings Mary Dougherty, Ellen Scherbach, Catherine Hammond, Rev. Dennis Foley, and Ann Karr. He was predeceased his daughter Nancy Foley, his parents John and Mary (Glynn) Foley, and his brothers John and Martin Foley. Robert James Frankel of Saddle River, formerly of Englewood, died March 29. He was 92. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Before retiring, he was the owner of The Titan Group Inc. of Park Ridge. He is survived by his daughters Carole Vince, Joni Rose, Dorothy Frankel, Bonnie DeMilia, AnnaBelle Koffler, Billie Jeanne Kiernan, Elizabeth Salome, and Jacqueline Jensen Frankel, 10 grandchildren, and his sister Helen R. Frankel. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Michaels. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. He was 90. Arrangements were made by the Louis Suburban Chapel in Fair Lawn. Dr. Ciro Sebastian Tarta of Naples, Florida, formerly of Ridgewood, died March 25. He was 94. He was a U.S. Army Medical Corps veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Fordham University and Flower Fifth Avenue Medical School. He had a medical and surgical practice in Paterson. He was a founding member of the Greater Paterson General Hospital in Wayne, which became Wayne General Hospital, and was the chair of obstetrics and gynecology and president of the medical staff. He was a parishioner of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Ridgewood. He is survived by his children Dr. Joseph A. Tarta of Rye, New Hampshire, Steven Tarta of Ridgewood, Lydia Nadeau of Wayne, and Marianne Haggerty of Glen Rock, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Regina (nee Cammarano), and his son Ciro Joseph Tarta. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Peter Ernest Thauer of Vero Beach, Florida and Saddle River, died March 24. He was 71. He was a graduate of Blair Academy, Princeton University and The University of Chicago Law School. He served as assistant general counsel at Avon Products and most recently as senior vice president, law and environment and general counsel and secretary of Cambrex Corporation in East Rutherford. He was a member of the Arcola Country Club and John’s Island Club. He is survived by his children Peter Beck Thauer of Ridgewood, and Susan Bradford Moravec of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy Weny Thauer. Noel Christian Young of Jackson, formerly of Hawthorne, died March 27. He was 63. Before retirement he was a music teacher and band director for Ramsey High School. He was a music teacher in the Ramsey Middle School. He was a drum corps and color guard adjudicator with the Musical Arts Conference. He was a USA Cycling official, and a former vice president of the New Jersey Bicycle Association. He was a former flat track and motocross racer, and a member and officer of the Hawthorne and Fair Lawn Gun clubs. He is survived by his wife Patricia (nee Bell) Young, his son Christian Young of Brick, and one grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Mildred Young. Boutique Night planned The Saddle River Valley Jewish Community Organization will host its annual Boutique Night Fundraiser on Tuesday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. This “girls’ night out” will be held at Seasons in Washington Township. Cultural Center offers May events The Saddle River Valley Cultural Center will offer two events in May, a local art exhibit, and Peter Rabbit Puppet Tales for children ages three and up. Peter Rabbit Puppet Tales be held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. is an opportunity to introduce young children to live theater. Shows run 45 minutes; tickets are $8. The art exhibit will feature Stephanie Cook, a life-long Bergen County resident. Cook’s artwork, which will be on display for the month of May, is free and open to all ages. On May 8 from 3 to 5 p.m., the center will host an artist’s reception. Attendees may meet the artists and have an opportunity to talk about the arts. All are welcome to this free event. Refreshments will be served. The Saddle River Valley Cultural Center is located at 305 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. Garden Club offers scholarship The Saddle River Garden Club will award an academic scholarship of $1,000 to a qualified applicant. In order to be eligible, an applicant must be a resident of Bergen County who is planning to study environmental sciences, conservation, architectural design, horticulture, or botany.
