Christopher DuFlocq by John Koster Christopher DuFlocq was officially promoted to captain of the Ridgewood Fire Department at last week’s public Ridgewood Village Council meeting. The new captain took his oath of office from Mayor Keith Killion while Ridgewood Fire Chief James Van Goor held the Bible. A graduate of Ridgewood High School, DuFlocq attended what was then Glassboro College before he left to pursue work in the construction trade. He became a firefighter 25 years ago. The new captain noted 4-29-09 karen/janine that, of Ridge- Ridgewood wood’s 40 paid firefighters, 30 are graduates of Ridgewood High School. About a dozen members of the Ridgewood Fire Department were present for the oath ceremony. At the same meeting, Councilman Paul Aronsohn read a proclamation that designed the second week of October as Fire Prevention Week.
