School trustees appoint new special education teachers
by John Koster The Ridgewood Board of Education has appointed a number of new teachers for the 2011-12 school year at the most recent meeting of the board. Douglas Aday has been appointed a special education social studies teacher at Ridgewood High School at a salary of $56,210. He is fully certified in both social studies and special education. Jackie Derasmo has been appointed as a special education teacher in science at a salary of $57,530. Andrea Schechter has been appointed a learning disabilities teacher-consultant for Ridgewood High School at a salary of $110,177. She holds multiple certifications and has many years of experience. Megan Simon has been appointed as a special education teacher at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, with standard certification, at a salary of $57,530. Suzanne Simone has been appointed a special education teacher at the Benjamin Franklin Middle School at a salary of $50,890. Laura Tolve has been appointed a special education teacher, self-contained, at Ridgewood High School at a
salary of $57,530 with standard certification. Elizabeth Unanue has been appointed a temporary leave of absence replacement special education teacher at the George Washington Middle School at a salary of $50,890. She is certified as a K-5 teacher and is in the process of obtaining a certificate as a teacher of students with disabilities. Danielle Nittolo has been appointed a 0.8-time temporary leave of absence special education teacher at a parttime salary of $45,768. She holds standard certification teaching English as a second language and teaching the handicapped.
The Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce will host an evening of networking on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blend located at 17 Chestnut Street. The Honorable Senator Gerald Cardinale will be on hand to answer questions on the Sole Proprietorship Health Insurance Bill #S-2874.
