‘Call Us Clowns’
Call Us Clowns, Inc. will entertain at the Nov. 16 luncheon of the Woman’s Club of Ridgewood’s clubhouse at 215 W. Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood. Call Us Clowns, Inc. volunteers its time and talent to provide laughter, family fun and entertainment that can be educational and therapeutic. The group has twice been selected Alley of the Year by the World Clown Association.This honor is bestowed upon the Alley that is judged by their peers around the world to be the best. Preceded by a business meeting at 11:30 a.m., lunch catered by Beth Velchez will be served at noon, followed by the program at 1 p.m. For luncheon reservations please send a check made payable to The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood to: 215 West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. The Unitarian Universalist Association identifies Kenneth L. Patton, as “one of the major poets and a prophet of contemporary liberal religion.” Patton, who was minister at The Unitarian Society of Ridgewood from 1964 to 1986, will be the subject of a workshop on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. until noon in the society’s Anderson Auditorium at 113 Cottage Place. Rev. Bill Murry, former president of Meadville Lombard Theological Seminary and editor of the Journal of Liberal Religion, will lead the workshop. Murry will Kenneth L. Patton explore Patton’s humanistic naturalism, and will touch on his art, poetry, and concept of “a religion for one world.” It will conclude with a discussion period. Following the workshop, lunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m. Members of the congregation will offer reminiscences about Patton. On Sunday, Oct. 30 at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services, Rev. Murry will talk about Patton’s legacy for today in the areas of Unitarian Universalist humanism and naturalism.
