Ridgewood 4-29-09 karen/janine EmmanuelHelp3x.75(4-29-09) 3 x .75 Ridgewood elementary school music teacher Tamara Freeman is receiving an award from her alma mater, the Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam, for having created and developed one of the five most innovative music education practices: the country’s first and only Holocaust music curriculum for grades K-12. This curriculum was the focus of Freeman’s doctoral dissertation, ‘Encouraging Racial Respect through Holocaust Music: An Interdisciplinary Curriculum for Grades K-12.’ She will present a Holocaust music lecture/recital at The National Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. in January.
