The installation of Rabbi Sharon Litwin as the associate rabbi of Temple Israel and Jewish Community Center of Ridgewood will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. Everyone in the community is invited to participate in this joyous event. The installation’s keynote address will be delivered by Rabbi Perry Raphael Rank of Midway Jewish Center in Syosset, New York, and past president of the Rabbinical Assembly, The International Association of Conservative/Masorti Rabbis. There will also be musical performances by the Temple Israel choir; by students from the Northern New Jersey Jewish Academy, a consortium Hebrew school of Temple

Israel and Temple Beth Sholom in Fair Lawn (Rabbi Litwin is the school’s director); and by TAVIM, a Jewish a cappella group with which Rabbi Litwin performs. Ridge Elementary School will host a Holiday House Tour on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The tour will feature a number of homes decorated for the holidays located within the Ridge School District. Homes on the tour will reflect the architectural beauty and diversity typical of this Ridgewood neighborhood. Stops on the tour will be enhanced by the décor of the holiday season. On display will be authentic Victorian, Tudor, Georgian-Revival, and Colonial homes that have been painstakingly restored and cared for over the years. The event will include a special fundraiser and treats. Children and cameras will not be permitted on the tour.
Ridge School hosts Holiday House Tour
Tickets are $45 per person. To purchase tickets, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with a check payable to Ridge HSA to 325 Beechwood Road, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Tickets will be sent on or before Nov. 30; requests received after Nov. 28 will be held at 325 Beechwood Road to be picked up after 9 a.m. on Dec. 8. In the event of a school weather closing, the tour will be moved to Friday, Dec. 9. Proceeds from this non-profit event will benefit Ridge Elementary School and tickets to the house tour are tax deductible.

Israel and Jewish Community Center is a fully egalitarian Conservative synagogue with members from over a dozen Bergen County communities.
