There will also be wreaths, other greenery, and poinsettias available for home decorating. While shopping, there will be music, beverages and snacks, prizes, and a reading of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” by the Hillside Players. Lunch will be available for purchase. Festival of Winter Holiday Music offered The Bergen Sinfonia Orchestra will perform a Festival of Winter Holiday Music on Friday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ciccone Theatre at Bergen Community College in Paramus. The program will feature international artist Vicki Fisk, soprano, singing arias from Mozart’s “Exultate Jubilate” and selected seasonal carols with the orchestra. The orchestra will perform seasonal favorites as Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto Grosso, Op. 6, No. 8;” “Fantasia on Greensleeves” by Vaughan Williams, “L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1” by Bizet, and Leroy Anderson’s famous “Sleigh Ride” and “Christmas Festival.” The orchestra is under the direction of conductor, Murray Colosimo. Resident wants to return Good Samaritan’s coat In the middle of the snowstorm on Saturday, Oct. 29 a Good Samaritan literally gave the coat off his back, to assist two victims of the house fire on High Mountain Road. A home health aide escaped and a resident was rescued by the police. A Good Samaritan who was passing by gave his coat to the victims and left without leaving his name. The coat was later retrieved by a neighbor who would like return it to the owner. The Good Samaritan may contact Sandra at (201) 741-2883. Christmas jazz concert set The Christian Zen Community of Zen Garland, a Zen Buddhist and interfaith order, will host a Christmas jazz concert, “Do Small Things with Great Love,” by Chris Shokai Connolly and Zen Garland’s Christian Zen on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Unitarian Church, 156 Forest Avenue in Paramus. The concert is a unique presentation of the story of Christmas combined with scripture passages and quotes from Mother Teresa accompanied by an original jazz musi- cal score. Elvis tribute performance set Elvis Presley tribute artist Anthony Liquori will bring his Las Vegas Review “Elvis: One Night with You” to Saint Elizabeth’s School gym on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Liquori, a deacon at Saint Elizabeth’s, will be joined by Bill Turner and The Bluesmoke Band and the Lazzaro Sisters. Tickets for the show are $25 and are available at the church’s parish center at 700 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. All funds raised will be used to support the mission projects of Saint Elizabeth’s. Attendees may bring their own snacks or beverages. Singles hold talent show, holiday festivities Christian Singles of North Jersey will sponsor a Potluck Dinner and Talent Show hosted by Gloria Savalli on Saturday, Dec. 3. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church Barn, 530 Sicomac Avenue in Wyckoff. Attendees are encouraged to bring a main dish, salad, soup, or appetizer to share (to feed approximately six people). Desserts, coffee, tea, soda, and snacks will be provided. Concert band to perform Ridgewood Concert Band will perform its second in a series of five seasonal concerts at West Side Presbyterian Church on Friday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. The concert will feature pianist Ron Levy playing the first movement of the Edvard Grieg Piano Concerto. The concert will highlight saxophone, euphonium, clarinet, and French horn soloists taken from the 65-piece RCB band.
