Reverend Leonard Ballesteros of Deland, Florida, formerly of Ridgewood, died on Oct. 5. Ernesto Barone of Ridgewood died Nov. 9. He was 92. He was born and raised in Naples, Italy. At age 13, he joined the Italian merchant marine. He served in Libya in WWII. After his return to Italy in 1943, he worked in the U.S. Army canteen in Naples. He immigrated to the United States when he was 41. He is survived by his wife Assunta, his children Rosemarie Barone of Glen Rock and Robert Barone of Ridgewood, and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his six siblings Fernando, Ugo, Joseph, Antoinette, Virginia, and Ida. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Filomena Clementi of Ridgewood, formerly of Fair Lawn, died Nov. 16. She was 89. She was employed by M.N.B. Textile in New York City until she retired. She attended Grace Church in Ridgewood. She is survived by her children Joseph Clementi of Ridgewood, Jamie Mantell of Orange County, California, and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband James, and her grandson Tyler Clementi. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Dorothy May (Gavora) Cordo of Glen Rock died Nov. 14. She was 74. A 1996 graduate of Caldwell College, she earned a master’s degree in library science. She was a member of the Friends of the Glen Rock Library. Before retiring this year, she was a law librarian with the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Newark for 32 years. She is survived by her children Loretta Cordo, Lisa Stevens, and Gina Krieger, and two grandchildren. She was a student at the Children’s Therapy Center in Midland Park and a member of the Glen Rock Jewish Center. She is survived by her parents Teri and Clifford Kirsch, her sisters Abby and Emma Kirsch, her grandparents Jacqualine Brotbacker, and Rita and Terry Kirsch, and her aunts and uncles Beth Smith, Harriett and Jacob Nachum and Mitchell and Iris Kirsch, and eight cousins. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was employed by Wolf Press before starting his own contracting business in the late 1960s. He owned the Holiday Apartments in South Fallsburg, New York and The Bridge Inn in Greenwood Lake, New York. He is survived by his children Diane Schubert of Upper Saddle River, John of Collingswood, Michael of Fallsburg, New York, Debra VanGieson of Upper Saddle River, and Denise Kehoe of Upper Saddle River, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister Ann Clements of New York City. He was predeceased by his wife Bertha (nee Decker), his parents Anna and Lewis Meininger, and his siblings Lewis, Howard, Louise and Edward. (continued from page 4) The second award was for innovative renegotiation of police and paid fire department contracts, which paved the way for hiring new officers and firefighters at lower starting wages. The third award was for the decision to process liquid waste from other towns at Ridgewood’s sewage treatment plant, which reportedly saved Ridgewood $140,000 in 2010 and is projected to save $170,000 in 2011. The plant is located Ridgewood-owned land located inside the borders of Glen Rock, a fact that raised some concerns when the operation was started a few years ago. J. KOSTER
