A child with an auditory processing disorder (APD) is unable to correctly process and interpret sounds, which leads to comprehension problems. It is often difficult to distinguish between APD and attention deficit disorder (ADD). Learn about the differences between APD and ADD and the appropriate interventions for both disorders. The meetings will offer support for those going through the grief process. The group stresses confidentiality and mutual support and is open to all. Mark Crawford to be honored at YWCA benefit The YWCA Bergen County will host its first Fall Benefit for the Rape Crisis Center on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus. The event will honor Mark Crawford, New Jersey director of SNAP (Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests) and founding director of FixThelaw.org, which educates about, advocates for, and supports the creation of just laws for survivors of sexual abuse. The evening will feature fine food, wines, and auction items. Tickets are $100 or two for $500 for those who wish to be identified as a Friend of the Rape Crisis Center in the event journal. Proceeds will support the center’s free and confidential services, including a confidential 24/7 hotline, and counseling and medical and legal accompaniments for survivors, their families, and friends.
