In Glen Rock, she was a member of the PTA and a class parent, volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America, member of American Legion Post 145 Ladies Auxiliary and a parishioner of Saint Catharine R.C. Church. She was also a member of the Italian American Club of Naples, Florida. She is survived by her children Denise Meissner of Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Alison G. Cessario of Summit, Renee DiCarlo of Glen Rock, and Janine Berlin of Coppell, Texas, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William A. Cessario. Checkley, nee Pavia, of Glen Rock died Oct. 28. She was 89. She was a parishioner of Saint Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock. She is survived by her husband William Checkley, her children William T. Checkley and Robert Checkley, three grandchildren, and her sisters Mary DeMaio and Vonda Mainardi. She was predeceased by her sisters Elsie Mazzerella and Licia Gubitosa. Mary Mahan Gifford of Danbury, Connecticut, formerly of Ridgewood, died Nov. 2. She was 81. She was a registered nurse, and earned her degree at the Springfield Hos- Rose A. (Alterisio) Cessario pital School of Nursing in Massachusetts. She later worked at New York University Hospital. She volunteered with Ridgewood Social Service Association and was a member of the Ridgewood Woman’s Club. President George H.W. Bush named her one of the “10,000 points of light” in honor of her decades of service. She is survived by her children John, Tim, Nancy, Jane, Tracey, Paula, and Sally, and nine grandchildren. He was 60. He worked until 2006 as a financial planner in his family’s business, Huntington Financial, Inc. He is survived by his wife Kerry (Hunter) Huntington, his children Kelly Huntington and Tim Huntington, and grandson Tristan Huntington, his siblings Rick Huntington, Russ Huntington, and Karla Huntington, and many nephews and nieces. She is survived by her children Marion La Femina of Ridgewood and Franklin Johnson of Montclair, two grandchildren, four great-grand- children, and her sisters Agnes Intile and Helen Nazaretta. After graduating from secretarial school, she was employed in a Reading, Pennsylvania bank until her marriage. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood and a leader in the church’s Altar Society. She is survived by her sons David McFadden of Geneva, Illinois and Joseph Hugh McFadden of New York City, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Bernadette Saco of New York City, New York, formerly of Franklin Lakes, died Oct. 31. She was 58. She was the director of office staff at Hughes Hubbard in New York City for the past 20 years. She is survived by her siblings Christopher Saco, Jeanne Mickel, Jacqueline Kossl, and Beverly Guido, and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. and Mrs. Louis Saco. Frances Susel Wroclawski of Indian Trial, North Carolina, formerly of Midland Park, died Oct. 28. She was 91. She was born in Nadanje Selo, Italy. She was a U.S. Women’s Army Corps veteran of WWII. She had owned a floral business in New Jersey. She was the founder of the SAGES (Seniors Aging Gracefully) in Lake Park, North Carolina. She is survived by her children Janet and Jimmy Hudson of Waxhaw, North Carolina and Richard and Vicki Wroclawski of Colleyville, Texas, one granddaughter, and nieces and nephews.
