Register for summer camp This summer, Eastern Christian School will offer summer camp programs to all children on EC’s three campuses, which are located in Midland Park, Wyckoff, and North Haledon. Eagles Camps will offer children in pre-K through grade eight summer experiences guaranteed to be safe and educational. The day camp programs will include weekly themed pre-K camping, full-day camp for elementary school students, and opportunities for middle school students to learn about rocketry and robotics. On Saturday, May 14, area residents are asked to place bags of nonperishable food items by their mailboxes. Letter carriers will collect the food and deliver it to a local food bank. Art and craft fair set Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, along with Kim G from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” will sponsor the Fine Art and Craft Fair on May 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Urban Farms Field in Franklin Lakes (across from the Market Basket). The event will feature many handcrafted items. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, which has an outreach center in Midland Park. Call (201) 612-8118 for details. Woyce to discuss Jersey Shore Author and photographer Kevin Woyce will present “History of the Jersey Shore” as part of the Mahwah Museum’s history lecture series on Thursday, May 12. The presentation will be held at the Ramapo Reformed Church, 100 Island Road in Mahwah at 7:30 p.m. Woyce will discuss the history of the Jersey Shore from the distant past of pirates and shipwrecks through the Golden Years. Learn how shore towns got their unusual names, why there is an elephant-shaped building in Margate, and more. Woyce, a life-long resident of the Garden State, has been taking photographs at the shore for more than a dozen years. Admission is $3 and refreshments will be served. Free workshop for adoptive parents Children’s Aid and Family Services will present a free workshop, “The Adopted Child’s Journey: Questions Along the Way,” at its Family and Adoption Services Center, 148 Prospect Street in Ridgewood, on Thursday, May 19 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The workshop will address issues that often arise for adopted children, including school and peer concerns, questions about identity and loss, and how parents can help children navigate through them. Based on the book, “Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Families Knew” by Sherrie Eldridge, the workshop will be led by Dana W. Fried, assistant director of the New Jersey Adoption Resource Clearing House and Kinship Legal Guardianship Clearing House, both programs of Children’s Aid and Family Services.
